Hi Bossarea & Guys

I was wondering if any of you guys, have tried the Ibanez PL5 PowerLead pedal.
Any Comments & opinions could be welcome.

There is one in a store new my place, but they don't have anything to plug it into, or a guitar to try it out with.

And they only offer Store Credit, if it's returned.

I have been amassing a small collection of these pedals, after I repaired the DL5 Delay pedal, it sounded so nice,(see the Mods & tech issues forum)

I just had to get some of the other SoundTank pedals, to try out. (sound familiar?)

Regards Dr. Bob

Maybe, you'll have to bring your own guitar & amp to the store.

Hi ptero
Point taken.
I will first ask the store owner, if it's ok with them.

Hi visserman & guys

Would you believe that I do know the Phase Tone VERY WELL
they still sell for quite a bit over here in Oz.

You see I was lucky enough to buy one NEW, way back then.
I still have it & use it now & then, I still have the original box & user manual as well.

It was pure economic dumb luck that I bought the Phase Tone,
it was the only time based effect pedal that I could afford,
and believe me it took months of scrimping & saving to buy it.

And hey visserman, I almost sounded like Trower when I played through it.

Low power consumption as well, I have only ever put about 6 or 7 batteries into this unit,
I take the battery out, just in case it starts to leak.

The SoundTank DL5 is my favorite delay pedal, I still don't own a DD-2-3-5-6 to compare it with, it's very analogue sounding.

I got the DL5 blown up, as part of a bunch of other dead pedals including an Ibanez BC10 chorus, go check out a BC10, it will surprise you, especially the D-time control knob.
I love them so much that I started to make a small collection of them.

If you look in the Mods & technical section, you should find a write up of, how I repaired the DL5, it had HEAPS of faults.

The BC10 had a cracked solder joint on the DC PWR in socket.

I case anyone is wondering, I went and bought the Ibanez Power Lead pedal, day before yesterday,
They were asking Aus$59 but I managed to get it untested for Aus$35
A bargain as far as I was concerned.

After I repaired the DL5, I seemed that Series 5 pedals just appeared everywhere I looked.
and not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, I just started to collect them as well.

I currently have:
DL5 Delay (2 off)
CP5 Compressor
PH5 Phaser
The compressor sound much better than my Boss CS-3

Regards Dr. Bob

PS visserman you should put you country of origin, into your profile.
even though I now know your from the UK.

Does also have the delay control, and yes they are fine, similar to the Boss DC3.

Amazing to see that you do like the phaser from the Soundtank series, especially since you do know the sound of the PhaseTone. but then you may just get them to collect, instead of being played.

Hi visserman
You're right on both counts, I like the individuality of all the gear that I have collected, And, I did start to collect the soundtank series of pedals.
The PhaseTone was an economic fluke, it was the only time based pedal I could afford, I bougt it brand new.

I do love the subtle qualities of the PhaseTone
If you look very carefully at the scrip logo on mine, it actually says
PhaserTone
not PhaseTone, I don't know if they changed the name, or if people just miss the (r) in Phaser.
I'm looking at mine right now, It's identical to the one in the link, in your previous post.
Look carefully you will see thee (r)... it's buried in the scripty logo.

I love reverse engineering, everything I get my hands on, in fact I have been reverse engineering, as far back as I can remember, maybe when I was 10 or 12,
Just ask my parent, they used to have heaps stuff.
I reverse engineered all of it.
Some of it worked better than other stuff, after I had FINISHED with it.

My Dad still reminds me, of some of the things, that they used to own,
that bore to the wrath of Dr. Bob (Jr.)

I am still trying to collect/find a Boss PH-1 or Ph-1r
I have heard that they are the ants pants, when it comes to vintage Phasers.

I am currently auditioning Compressors.
Any personal favorites or comments, visserman.

Hi visserman
I'll PM you, if that's OK.
It's 2:43am here in Oz, Christmas morning.

I'm up, listening to a rain & hail storm with thunder & lightning.
I love it.

And I am waiting for Santa, the bad weather must have put him behind a bit.

Regards, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.
from all of us here in Australia.
I'll PM you later, probably after I get some sleep & open my presents

I hope it's all Boss pedals
Hmmm, more thunder & lightning
better put out the navigation beacons for Santa ...

Bye again, Dr. B

Did you get any new Boss pedals then?

Hi Visserman
Please check your PM.
No new Boss pedals, but I got a HM-2 last week
& an Ibanez soundtank Power Lead PL5 pedal (very cheap)

I won a DOD Mystic Blues pedal, that I'm still waiting for.
