heyy guys, i'm new here. this would be my first official post. i've been playing since i was 17 and have had a jourey of a lifetime. anyways, i'm puttin together a pedal-board and i was wondering what more do i need. can you guys help me out? i dont hav much right now but here it is: WH-4 > FRV-1 > DD-7 > DD-3 > SD-1 >BD2 > OD3 > FBM1 FRV-1 is always on on a medium setting to add ambience, but not too strong where-as to draw tone from the delay or clutter it. The FBM-1 Bassman also always on but not using it with any over-drive from the pedal, basically just the bright input for clean (for equalization and to add character to my tone. The BD-2 is used the gain lightly for a soft over-drive, the OD-3 is set for a mid over-drive for more grit and my SD-1 is used as a booster to add a little dirt for solos. i play all kinds of music so please don't be shy! (please try to stick with smaller compact boxes like for example: Boss, Digitech. i don't like anything that takes up to much space) i'm interested in hearing your suggestions guys. thanks! -steve |

Said hello in one of the other posts... .... a couple of years back i got into tremolo and uni-vibe/leslie type effects i also like chorus and have a CE-2 and a BF-2 on a chorus type setting on my board,i like to use them for certain parts rather than leaving them on all the time...on some songs i might leave the CE-2 on for a bit ... i use a small rack as well with the leslie stuff in it but i've got a good sound mixing the TR-2 and the CE-2 together to get this effect by maxxing out the rate and pushing the depth controls up a bit....plus you have both pedals as seperate effects as well so they are three i would recommend....i suppose you could even go BF-2/TR-2 as you can get a nice warm chorusy sound out of the flanger ....personally i would like to get a dedicated uni-vibe pedal in the future for those Hendrix moments but Boss don't make one except for a patch in the RT-20 and i don't need all the stuff that does...might go for a voodoo labs micro vibe etc..down the road a bit....defo something analogue anyway.... |

cheers to that mate. yea, i like the retro-appeal of the TR-2, it must sound really nice with a slide or ebow!! i think i'm gonna get one to add on to the board i love Boss' 3 knob pedals, and how they keep things so simple. the twin pedals are cool but i don't think i would ever get into them just because i like single effect purpose pedals, i see their twin pedals as multi-effect processors. once upon a time i had a digitech rp-80 (which is not the RP-120) and it was not so good too me with all it's complex juncture (especially as a starting guitarist) thanks! |

| Im looking into the 1976 Dyna Comp Reissue (Made to original spec, with original components like the 74 Phase 90 Im desperate for) Looks a bit more affordable than the Keeley 4 Knob Comp I was looking at. |

oh dang i didn't even know Keely made a 4 knob comp, i've only seen the 2 knob one. a 76 Dyna comp sounds pretty nice, i'm geussing it has only one knob? |

Hey Ollie, I recently picked up a 1987 MXR Phase 90. One of the first production runs after Dunlop took the whole thing over.
I was surprised at the quality of the sound. Much nicer than my 2007 version of the same thing.
I'm mentioning this because while it isn't one of the reissues, it also wasn't very expensive (the equivalent of about 30 pounds). Might be good value if you can find one?

I really dig the MXR '74 Phase 90 and '76 Dyna comp, they sound sweet but to be 'authentic' as possible they lack:
. DC input (Batteries Only) . No True Bypass (For borderline boutique prices its a shame) . No Led (didn't exist in the originals)
Was looking on Analongmans site and worked out that I could buy the two pedals from them, both fitted with green leds, true bypass mods & Boss style DC adaptors, shipped to the UK for around the same price as ordering the two separately from the staes (without mods)
My local guitar shop want 199 for the 74 phase 90 (cheaper on ebay mind) but 240 for the two pedals (with the mods) shipped from analogman seemed pretty good.

I know its a rip off over here, cheapest ive seen it is for 130 on ebay, thats why the Analogue Man deal seemed pretty good. Thing is, as sweet as these pedals sound, they are, well, flawed. I know they took features off for authenticity but srsly, I'd get through so many 9V Batterys |

i love musiciansfriend.com, they usually have price drops before anyone else (along with random discounts and free adaptors sometimes) |

FYI: musiciansfriend.com is owned by Guitar Center. So if you don't dig Guitar Center (and I know few who do these days), you might want to stay away from them. Guitar Center owns dozens of on line gear shops under different names.
Try sweetwater.com. They are fast, cheap and friendly. |

Hello ovrdrv123, and welcome to the forum. Great bunch of people around here.
To answer your question I'd suggest a Chorus. It is a beautiful effect and pairs wonderfully with delay. Of the available ones right now CH-1 and CE-5 are both great options but CE-2 is optimal and on the pricey side of older Boss pedals.
Your set up is interesting, almost backwards to common setups which go wah>drive>delay>reverb. But to each his own... |

sweet, i will definitely look into those! yea, i don't know why, i just always set it up like that, haven't really had time to make variations with the pedal orders. perhaps soon though. |
