hey guys,
well we'd all like to pick up a VB-2 for bout 30 bucks in a pawn shop somewhere but that's prob not going to happen! so with that in mind has anyone here tried the vibrato mod available for the CE-2? |

You talking about the one from erik's corner? http://www.erikhansen.net/?page_id=26
without it, the effect signal it shut off. I did the same with a BF-2, and the sound was interesting Didn't want to mod my CE-2 in fear of the wrath of Dr.Bob got a HF-2 I might try, Octave up vibrato... Heard good things about the Dano Chicken Salad Vibrato, after tweeking the trim pot
Was also thinking you could use another chorus pedal that has stereo outputs where the one has effect and the other is dry. Plug the output into the effects only jack, you may need to put a dummy plug in the dry signal jack. The only chorus I own are the CE2 and DC3 so can't try it myself. good luck |

Once you build the switching circuit shown for the CE-2, its the same reference points for R21 and pin 2 of IC1, but on the flangers, it goes to the collector of Q9.
Some others are similar too, C30 for the delay range mod. You can only increase the delay time, not reduce it. One note is the HF2's delay time is half of the BF2, which is a bit better one would think, since the VB2's delay is only 4ms
For the ring mod, its the two back to back caps at C27/C28 making up a 16uf cap. Making it lower say like 5uf (2x 10uf) it would produce a ring type mod sounds when you turn up the Rate. This shifts the LFO range.
Wet/dry balance knob is what know is what flangers seem to be missing. Wouldn't it be a joy to control this? The resistor R29 controls the balance between the wet and dry effect. Try replacing the resistor with a 22k res and a 50-100k pot in series. This will give you a little more of a wet sound, or you can have the flanging subtle in the background.
And of course we all know the C7/C21 mod. To cut down on the resonance feedback, lower the caps from 0.047 to .01
Reduce C13,0.033uf to take out some bass in the delay signal Stock its at 86Hz, .022 will bring it up to 129Hz
What the heck, I'll throw in the "spaceship mod" too. Next to the bottom IC MN3102, there is two comps close to pins 7-8. One is the C30 paper cap, and the other is C12 electro. Wire a .01 cap in between them. This will give out some crazy circuit bending noise. Throw in a toggle for good measure.
Get a breadboard to try these mods good luck

hello
im relatively new to all this, and dont have an immense amount og knowledge, would it be to boring to tell me how to wire somehting in between components? cheers, |

No problem, I'll explain it some more. When you open your flanger, you'll see the two comps I'm talking about. You want to solder the wires/.01 cap to the positive lead of C12 electro, to the 47pf(C30)cap's lead below it, bridging the two parts. Or you could also trace out the leads on the solder side and do the mod there.
