...my pedal board is an SKB Stage Five which has many onboard power options(4VDC to 24VDC)...so i brought home a new DD-20 today and plugged her in a 9v socket and she powered up...for about 8 sec. then ...nothing...so I tried again...same thing about 20 times in a row...so at this point i'm switching power supplies connected to other effects on the board same thing...I'm positive that NO MORE than 9v. was ever sent into the unit....so then I try a seperate OneSpot and she stay's powered up...but the green light in the lcd screen quits working....something tells me I bought a dud...then the streets will flow w/ the blood of the non-believers!!!!....any ideas out the in Boss Land!
The LCD light will turn off... dunnno why? Power saving? I made mine stay on by pressing the TAP and TEMPO buttons together.
The reason the DD-20 may be powering down after 8sec is that the power supply in your board might not have enough "grunt" (to use the Australianism). The DD-20 is a thirsty beast (200mA according to the manual) and if it is pulling the power supply a lot below 9V is may be shutting down.
So... try a fresh set of batteries and try pressing the TAP and TEMPO buttons together to turn on the display. Should be OK?
I looked @ the manual for the SKB board last night and figured out that the power supplies are 100ma for each outlet...but one is switchable(vintage effects)up to 1.3amps!!!!!so we have power now...THX ALL!!!!!
I know this is sorted out now... but I found this in the PDF manual (top right of page 16):
Display When the power is turned on, the backlighting comes on, then goes off again after approximately twenty seconds. This feature is intended to prevent unnecessary battery drainage. If you want to keep the backlighting on, simultaneously press the TAP button and TEMPO button; the light then stays on.
