Hi Guys, I own a couple of DM-2's and I purchased the new DD-7 two days ago. I bought the DD-7 based on the claim that the analog setting was modeled on the DM-2. I've done a side by side comparison of the DM-2 and the DD-7 in analog mode--here are my thoughts. To it's credit the DD-7 sounds the closest to the DM-2 of any digital pedal I've tried over the last year and a half--(and I've tried a bunch of them). The DD-7's analog mode isn't perfect--but it's pretty decent. I've come to believe that no digital pedal will ever sound exactly the same as a quality analog delay. Something I should mention is that I'm not a guitar player--I play amplified harmonica and as such I send a microphone level signal into my pedals. When I play, my hands are tightly cupped around the mic, and when I play I play with a bit of force--which means the level going to the pedal is much greater than the signal a guitar puts out. The analog pedals I've used seem to handle a mic level better than any digital pedal I've worked with. When I hit a note with a degree of intensity the digital pedals can't help but sound digital--(does that make sense?) If I play at a moderate level the DD-7 sounds pretty darn good and sounds much like the DM-2--not perfect, but pretty close--(at least to my ears). The bottom line on the DD-7 is that of all the digital pedals I've worked with, the DD-7's analog mode comes the closest to sounding like the DM-2--(in my opinion anyway).
