So I've become pretty interested in pedals over the past three months, especially BOSS ones. Also I've been reading some about mods and repairs and stuff like that, mostly on here. I've looked at some stuff on geofex.com too. The thing is, however, I've never soldered anything in my life. I don't know what a capacitor does either. Crazy, right? Yeah. But I'd really like to get into stuff like that. Maybe just repairing some pedals, experimenting, and maybe building my own eventually.
You guys seem to really know what you're doing with all this stuff, so I thought I'd ask for your advice. What do you think I need to know, have, or do to be able to be somewhat proficient with these kinds of things, or at least keep up with stuff on this section of the message board?
General advice, tutorials, facts, ideas, and even encouragement are appreciated.
Thanks,
Kyle

| hey there. as lame as it sounds, i went to Wikipedia.com a while ago and typed in words such as "transistor," and "capacitor." they give very detailed descriptions and pirctures. i had my DS-1 opened up beside me while i was reading. "so thats what that black cylinder thing is." its only hard until you understand how it works. |
