Hello all,
I picked up a pink label CE-5 this afternoon, unfortunately the serial number label is missing but looking at the label page my label looks like a cross between Type 12B layout wise and Type 13 colour wise but there is no CE logo, take a look:

So would I be correct in assuming it could be a cross over label between the two with the pedal being manufactured somewhere around 1993-1994? Anyone else have a pedal with a label like this one? What date do you get from the serial number decoder?
BTW, its the analogue version with the MN3007 BBD and MN3101 etc, will be interesting to see how it sounds compared to my Nov 2005 CE-5.
Thanks

Hi Stengah2010 Welcome to the forum, good to see another Aussie...
Is your Nov2005 CE-5, the digital version? I have never seen the insides of a digital one.
And like yourself, I would be interested to know how much, if any difference there is between it & the BBD Analog version. I have an analog one as well.
I had a quick look at your site, nice photography I especially like the Muscle cars...

| I've had both versions... the analogue CE-5 is a little warmer sounding, the digital one cleaner, crisper, and better for adding to distorted sounds. The analogue CE-5 has been gone for a while... I still have a CE-2 and digital CE-5, and that covers my chorus needs nicely. |

The CE-5 was produced with pink labels from Feb-94 to Jan-99. To get a better estimate of its age you might want to open it up and have a look at the component production dates inside. Most transistors have a 3 letter code and integrated circuits have a 4 digit code indicating when they were made. |

Hi Dr. Bob,
I assume my Nov 2005 CE-5 is digital given the BossArea CE-5 page says the switchover happened in October 2001 but I haven't opened it to check. Still haven't gotten around to comparing the two closely.
Thanks for the compliments on the photos, I've taken tons more since then but haven't put any on the web site lately.
Thanks for the welcome too, I think I've seen in some of your threads you mentioned you lived somewhere around Berwick correct? If so I only live about 30 mins drive from you at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges.

Hi Stengah2010
I actually now live in Lynbrook off the South Gippy Hwy. But most people know Berwick, Lynbrook is a bit harder to to visualize.
The Boys & I sometimes have a dinner & a drink, over at the Irish Tavern, at the Knox shopping Plaza, I guess you know where that is. We do dinner about once a month, if work & family allows. Maybe we can meet over there, on one of our Boys nights out.
There is a small music store over there (Rajen Music) & most importantly, a Cash Converters...
RRV-10 on this forum is over that way somewhere as well. Ronny is over in Oakleigh somewhere, I think? ShakeTheDevil is in QLD AlienDNA is over the other side of Melb. on the Calder Hwy.
What part of the Foothills? Your Photography is it film or digital? You have some really nice work.
Regards Dr. Bob

Welcome Stengah! You might really like your new acquisition. I have an analog CE-5 from 1991 and it's absolutely awesome. I still can't bear to part with my CE-2 yet, but the CE-5 is rounder, fuller with more mid/ bottom which can be handy... |

Hi Dr. Bob,
Just looked up Lynbrook in the Melways, your correct I wouldn't have known where it was if I hadn't looked it up.
Yes I know Knox City Shopping Centre very well, its only 10 mins from my house, been there many times over the years. I'd certainly be in for meeting up with some fellow Boss enthusiasts, I'm not much of a drinker but I certainly love my food. Keep me informed of any future plans.
Good old Cash Converters, on the surface they look overpriced and full of questionable merchandise but if your in the right place at the right time, are willing to bargain heavily, and have some idea how their pricing system works you can get many bargains. In 2007 alone I picked up 3 nice guitars, 2 Roland CUBE amps and probably 6-8 pedals all for very good prices in various stores over the south eastern suburbs. Have you got many bagains there?
Do you know Boronia or Ferntree Gully? They are probably the best known suburbs around my area.
All my photography is digital, all shot with a Canon Digital SLR and various nice lenses depending on the application. Why do I always pick the expensive hobbies? Are you into photography at all?
Here is another photo you guys might appreciate, its the power amp valves in my Marshall JCM800 head:

Its a 90 second exposure so in reality they don't glow anywhere near that bright but it looks cool.
Have a good one.
