on the back side of my ds1 , there is a small little square box that
is soldered between two of the lugs on the op amp. and it has a number 102 , i think , its so small its hard to read , just wondering
what it is .

Sounds like a 1nF capacitor but if you have a picture we'll tell you for sure.
