Hi ElfegoBaca & Guys
quote:
Hello! After sifting through many pages I have two basic questions regarding pedal mods: When I see "remove component" (re:C29 for CE-3, and C25 and C35 for MT-2) should I be reading "and jumper" into this automatically? Replace D3 in the MT-2 with an led. Really? Many thanks, any additional info would be sincerely appreciated.
First of all Welcome to the forum from Australia.

Guessing with removing C29 in the CE3, you're doing some kind of CE2 conversion, so yeah, remove that cap and leave it empty,
Not sure what exactly happends when you remove C25 n C35,(removing the base from emitter via the cap) but if the mods says remove it, its safe to do it. Its still connected via the 47k resistor. There's other MT2 mods where these caps are removed. Clipping is suggective to taste, try the whole mod first with stock diodes, listen to it, then do the suggested diode swap. The LED really is a diode. You can even do the SEM mod from the DS1(i like green leds for the mojo)
The only time you would want to jumper anything is if it breaks the connection and leave the tone path open with no place to go. Which can be a good or bad thing. Both good in this case with both examples. Mod mod sites are diligent about stuff like that and don't leave you with a nonfunctioning pedal with you scratching your head

Happy Holidays All! How very cool! Got an embarrassing little warm place in my heart when I looked at the forum today. I was hesitant to post what seemed, to me, to be very basic questions. Dr. Bob, Laurie, ChristoM, many, many thanks to you and the civilized environment you share with the world. Well done. I will read up the SEM mod (mojo is vital!)and start gathering parts. I'm back to the bench, tell ya how it falls out. If you're ever in New Mexico, ya'll got a place to water horses and hang yer hats. Thx! |

Hi ElfegoBaca
Thanks for your kind words.
And now I'm off to get a couple of horses, so we can come visit you over Christmas & New Year.
I'll bring my own pedal mod parts ...
Seriously, please keep us informed of your SEM, or other Mod projects.
Regards Dr. Bob |

You can use any led you want for the SEM like mod, you could do it to a lot of Boss pedals.
good luck

Hey Doc! Fire off a PM and we'll set a place for you. Always room for good folk here. Just mind Carmen's red chile, Woof! Little too much and we'll leave nothing but scorch marks on the hardwood. If only there was some magical way to cool the palette after a hot bite. Hmm... Thanks ChrisM a little luck, a hot iron, and a cool head oughta get it done. All for naught without the grace of folks like you. Interesting: all that ratty used crap I bought as a teen in the 70's is now "valuable vintage pro gear"-shoulda bought more pedals(was then a purist punk). My EH BM pi-the target of so many insults and much derision, is now a venerated antique. While I wasn't looking my RNR lifestyle became necessarily insurable and mainstream! Ha! Back to business, thanks folks! |
