i'm buying a distortion pedal, i want it for like "Lamb of God" type stuff. i'm not really sure what to get. i was think the new MXR fullbore pedal or possibly a EHX Micro metal muff (i don't want to go bigger than a Micro Metal Muff or the spending limit: $100 USD). anyone have any ideas?
thanks!!

A DS-1 is indeed a very good buy, I have one and I love it. But if ya wanna go heavier, a DS-2 or Metal Muff seems pretty good to me.

Left field - get a DS-1 and do the Keeley "Ultra" mod to it (all of the changes mentioned here):

Do your self a favor and pick up a cheap MT2. Find the right settings and you can play any sort of metal. I can get tones from Metallica to heavier stuff like beneath the massacre/aborted/cannibal corpse (with the right tuning of course ) ...just my opinion though.

I agree. Part of the reason why the MT-2 gets a bad rap is because I think some of the players who buy it set the cut the mids on the pedal, AND cut the mids on their amp, so all you get is this treble-nasal crap...I find with the MT-2 the trick is getting the EQ section dialed to your liking, and then not setting the distortion knob as high as you think you need to.
