Is it worth the extra cash?
That's all I really need to know.
I would save up, that's cool. I like the idea of all the cool functions on the 6....
Some opinions? |

I was asking the same thing a while ago
Someone here just made it simple for me: Do you want a delay, or a delay with a lot of extra features
I went for the DD-6, and i think its definately worth the extra cash
The hold you can use as a sampler, up to 5200ms, which is pretty sick for just a bonus The warp is amazing, and i use it a lot. Its not like a DF-2 feature at all, it swells the volume and feedback, but it doesnt cut off as soon as you let go, it slowely swells back down The Reverse, i havent found much of a use for it, but i keep playing around with it
And of course more delay that youll ever need (5200ms)
Hope that helps |

| DD-6 all the way, I find the reverse function really useful because I play a lot of Post-Rock/Shoegaze stuff, I generally only use up to 800ms of delay but the rest is welcome, the sample function is great and warp mode is cool because you can use it for self oscillation and stuff. |

soundwise they seem to be the same. i dont think that one has better tone than the other or anything.
it all depends on what you wanna use it for. if youre just gonna use it casually theres no need for a DD-6. the DD-3 is good enough for most players and i cant think of too many songs where the player goes over 800 ms. but if youre looking for more than ordinary delay time, extra features(some usable and some quite unusable ) and you dont mind forking over some extra cash, the DD-6 is the way to go.
the DD-5 is also worth looking at. its my current delay right now and i find its kind of in between the DD-3 and DD-6 on the features spectrum.
or if youre feeling real crazy ive heard good things about the DD-20

| In the used market the price difference isn't all that great between the DD-3 and DD-6 - maybe $30-40. DD-5's tend to be more expensive than DD-6s. People seem to laud the discontinued effects when the DD-6 has more time, features, 100% wet reverse, stereo inputs and better quality caps in it. |

I agree with stratosphere, not many players really need more than 800ms.
ONLY if you are experimenting or looping, you need more, but for the price the DD-20 is the king.
Other than that, if one is looking for a "big-easy" delay sound, listen to all teh delay junkies like Sumner and the Edge, they ALWAYS USE MULTIPLE delay boxes to get their atmospheric sound not 1 long delay but stacked delays. Try it, you'll love it! |

^^yup its true. im using a DD-5 set at about 500 ms and a RV-2 set rather high for my space sounds. and i have the DD-5 output level set at about half. any higher and you can start to hear the separate feedbacks and i find that takes away from the space.
i heard some people do something rather similar with modulation effects. i heard 2 phasers on light sounds neat as an alternative to one phaser set on a thicker setting |

hi Stratosphere & Guys Don't forget my trick with 3 CE-2's in a Tri-Chorus setup. All set slightly different.

Great, i will.
Thanks.
I won't rush into buying two pedals soon, though i apprceciate it's what's done.

^ yeah i'd go with the DD-6 aswell.
i'm really not one of these MIJ vs. MIT but i do find that my MIJ DD-3 is a touch warmer than the DD-6 but it's something anyone would notice in a band situation.
the DD-6 is still the one i'd pick if i'd to pick one to use. |
