hey hey. i was just wondering about silver screw pedals. i know that they are usuaully seen as more rare than black screw pedals, but what's stopping someone from putting silver screws on his black screw CE-2 and selling it for more? Can serial numbers tell you if the screws should be silver or black??
The seller will first have to find a silver screw that looks original. That means he will most likely have to cannibalize a another pedal which means lowering the value of that one. There really isn't that much to earn from changing the screw so it beats me why someone would care to do it.
The change to silver screws happened around the same time that paper stick serial was introduced. The rule is that ink stamped pedals should have silver screws but there may be the odd pedal that breaks the rule.
Yes it would, but the pedal he exchanged the silver screw from would drop as much in price as the fake pedal would increase. Of course if he wasn't selling the other one he might earn a quick buck and that might be what's happening.
