Hi,
I have a DM-2 but it has a problem.
It whistles a lot when I change the Repeat Rate and the repeat rate effects don't seem to work properly. Any Suggestions?

Hi, laurie.
It came like this so I have no idea what could have caused it.

| Check the wiring - the DM-2 has a "single ended" shield arrangement to one of the pots (rate as I recall). If someone has fiddled with that (like hooking up both ends of the shield), it might cause the symptoms you are hearing. |

Hi, I'm not familiar with what a single ended shield is. But the repeat rate pot is connected to the board by 3 wires (13,15,16) and only 2 wires connect to the pot therefore 13 runs into either 15 or 16 or both. Does that sound right to you?
Thanks for taking the time to help

Yeah that's it. #13 doesn't connect to anything at the pot end (hence "single ended" shield).
What are you powering it with? Don't forget this is an ACA pedal and a PSA supply won't give it enough volts if it is the only pedal in the chain. Have you tried a fresh battery?
If that all looks OK, then maybe someone has been playing with the trim pots. Ummm... I'm guessing you don't have a scope and signal generator handy?
Do the trim pots look like they've been adjusted?

Hi, yes I know it's a ACA pedal so I'm powering it with a unregulated 12v (300mA) which if I'm correct is a good alternative to the ACA.
The trim pots all look the same so I assume they are original parts. How could these have been tampered with?
I am without a scope and signal generator so is there another wayI can tell if they have been changed?

The trim pots usually have a spot of wax on them - if they have been adjusted, sometimes that looks like it has been broken.
Have you tried it with a fresh battery?

Hi, the wax it still there and it doesn't look like it's been tampered with in any way. The same thing happens with a battery too.
