I think the first album I actually bought (was not given as a gift, donation, or hand-me-down) was Jethro Tull "Live - Bursting Out". Still love it!!

The Chicago album with "25 Or 6 To 4" on it. Had a silver cover.

Yeah, I'm old. Terry Kath was a pretty decent guitar player back in the day, though.

Tragic, that gun accident was, that took Terry Kath in 78
Chicago was one of the few bands with a horn section that we would listen to back in the day

1st vinyl I believe was:
Dio ~ Holy Diver
Ozzy ~ Diary of a Madman
Judas Priest ~ Defenders of the Faith
I believe these were followed by, believe it or not, the 1st 3 full length Metallica albums. A little after vinyl was long past it's prime.

1st CD's:
Judas Priest ~ Screaming for Vengeance
AC/DC ~ Back in Black

Bought many cassettes for a short time before switching to primarily CD. Still have my large collection of vinyl (and of course CDs) but the cassettes are long gone.
