i first met this 80's mit 0d-1 when my guitar student sold it to me to finance a drinking binge/birthday bash. i planned to use it to boost my hm-2 with it, but during that time i didn't know a lot about effects order and i placed it after the hm-2, so when i turned it on, my sound change from the hm-2 to the od-1's. i didn't like it so i sold it to another student. a few years later the second student sold it back to me for some reason, and i put it before the hm-2 and it boosted my signal. however, when i added two more pedals, i needed to use a power supply to power them all up. this time the od-1 wouldn't work because it was aca and the adaptor i was using was regulated like the psa( i didn't know it at that time, and there was no boss area forum yet in the 80's). curiously tho, the hm-2 is also aca tho it didn't have the same problems. so i sold the od for the second time to another musician together with an arion flanger that i didn't like.when i discovered the boss area forums and found out how classic the od-1 is, i bought back the pedal. it acted up but with lots of input from this forum plus a few lucky breaks i have hopefully solved the od's problem and its now back in my pedalboard as an od or boosting the ds-1 or my beloved hm-2. i promise i won't sell it ever. from now on, my motto is "BOSS pedals, like politics, is addition, not subtraction." thanks to dr. bob, christo, ken, stinkfoot and all the forum members for your ideas. i hope i can help somebody too! Great story.
Stinkfoot has mentioned it here somewhere that there was both 9V and 12V ACA pedals. Possibly your HM-2 and OD-1 are different.

Glue the OD-1 to your pedal board, with epoxy!

I think my motto would be "BOSS pedals, like sex, is addiction, not subtraction."
