Have an opportunity to buy one of these locally - it's a head+cab.

What do you think of them? What's a good price?

Remember this amp lends itself well to many mods already out there.

Start with these links:

Valve Jr is a good amp stock, a little too dirty for me (you dont need any ods or distortions). Modded this amp shines, the best small amp I ever owned/heard. Of course there are better small amps but not with this price tag.
Beware so you get the latest version if you dont want to change the OT, there is some impedance mismatch on the two first versions. Of course a Hammond OT is a lot better than the stock one in version three, but they are not cheap. A big OT is essential if you want to play this amp on full tilt anyway.

I dont know a good price in the US, pay less for the two first versions, they are not bad but version three is definitely better.

Hidee Ho Laurie,
NEW - the pair go for $250 at MF. I would employ the %60 rule for used in good condition. Previous thread if you didn't catch it.

I like mine. I personally think, with a higher quality transformer, it would be a superb head. GREAT for small venues or home. Word has it quite a few folks are using it in the studio as well. The ONLY REASON I didn't get the 1X12 cab with it is cause I found my Marshall VS 4X12 for under $100.
