Hey allo, I was wondering, I have an Analogman modded DS-1 Distortion pedal, when I want to boost the level and distortion for leads should I use an OD-3 Overdrive before or after the DS-1? |

i thought you'd use the OD to push the tubes in your amp harder when you're using amp dist?
anyway i have those 2 pedals and i didn't get great results boosting the DS-1 with the OD-3. try it both ways and see which one sounds better to your ear tho. |

Personally I would put the OD-3 after the distortion.
You should always try different configurations and see what you like though. Especially when there are only 2 different options. |

i find that putting your most extreme distortions first and lightening it up as you go further down the chain, to be better. if i put a MT-2 AFTER just say a DF-2 and a OD-3, i usually am only able to hear the MT-2. but if i put my MT-2 first folowed by my DF-2 and finally the OD-3, i find everything can be heard much better.
however, in your case, using 2 "lighter" pedals, you can probably get a nice sound by using the OD-3 defore the DS-1 with everything set around 12 oclock. remember...on some Boss distortions, the tone knobs tend to get harsh after 12 oclock.

I LOVE the sound of my non modded DS-1 first, and then the SD-1... it sounds wonderful, and can give you a wide variety of sounds by changing the pickups or rolling off the volume on the guitar. For heavier parts, I'd use the DS-1 into an OD-3, and sounds much fuller and louder. Many people use OD/DS combinations diferently, and ultimately it depends on the sound you're after, and your current equipment. My amp sucks, so a standard DS-1 was pretty unusable by its own in my setup, sounded really thin and with low output... but the DS==>OD combination sounds just wonderful. |
