I've never found a "good" equivalent. I've bought some from Asian suppliers on eBay and they are "ok"... a little bit off spec but not too bad. |

I got an old (Heninger Schellvergleichsliste 1984) list that lists the following equivalents
2SK30 - BF245 2SC732 - BC550 2SC945 - BC546
A newer list (Semiconductor Cross Reference Book, Sams Publishing 2001) lists the following replacments
2SK30A-Y - 14733 - NTE459, ECG459, 11302452 (Radio Shack), SK3112 2SK30A-Y(SGD) - 04904 - ECG459 2SC732TM - 03342 - ECG199 2SC732GR - 11306 - NTE199, ECG199, 11300969 (Radio Shack), SK3245 2SC945P - 07455 - ECG85
The results from the second book is probably more accurate as it lists over 600k semiconductors and claims to have to have done extensive research. I have however never tested any of these equivalents so I don't guarantee anything. Also, the replacements from the second book are rarely available from European dealers so you might not easily get hold them.

The correct replacement for 2SK30 is BF245A.
There are also the BF245B and BF245C types which are really unusable for stompboxes. |

Thanks Guys
My old "International Transistor Equivalents Guide" wasn't much help so cheers for the heads up
Reason for asking - thinking of cloning a CE-2 as the ebay prices are just bonkers.
Cheers

Beware that these are not necessarily pin compatible.
As for the 2SK30. This one is in most cases used as switch and sometimes as input buffer. I never found a problem when replaced with another type of N-Fet. |

Some uses (eg SG-1 clone) the K30 is used as a variable resistor. Whatever you use in this application needs to be close to spec for this to work, or a gate drive circuit redesign will be required.
