Does anybody have any of the Digitech's Hardwire series of pedals? What do you think of them?
I've listened to the samples on Digitech's site, but would like to hear what YOU guys have to say about them. |

| Hi Merv, I havn't heard them yet, but a buddy of mine gives glowing reveiws. I purchased a few of the X-series pedals and they sound great, but one eBay buy was the Tone Driver. It came DOA, and when I opeded it up it's all SMD. It seemed like the processor was burned up. It ended up a paper weight! I'm starting to practice on SMD as it is more and more prevelant. However this one wasn't worth fixing(didn't ask Harmon what they wanted for the 64pin DNA processor!). Hare you worked on any SMD yet? How 'bout you Laurie? |

Hi PedalDan,
SMD? You bet. When I worked as a lighting tech at Bandit Lites, that's all I did was surface mount work. Since I've been playing with pedals now, I've modded an AC-2 (got rid of the stock opamps) and it quieted it down A LOT! I've been tinkering with different pedal, and I'm starting to keep my eye out for "grey label" boss pedals.
Laurie helped me out with info on a DD-3 I had (surface mount), and now it works like a champ.
Anyway - I've been peeking at Digitech's Hardwire Chorus, and I'd really like an unbiased opinion |

Sorry for throwing the thread off topic, I have a bad habit of doing that. I hadn't realized the DD-3 was surface mount, but yeah...get out the magnifier and the tweezers!!! Back to topic... Digitech Hardwire series! |

I've owned 2 hardwire metal distortions in the past (sold em' for my Blackstar Distx). Kinda similar to a stock metal zone in terms of overall tone/gain, but less noisy with a little more low end.
It has a 2-way tight/loose switch on the pedal as well, not a bad buy |

| I own the HardWire CR-7 Stereo Chorus and used to own the RV-7 Reverb. They both sound really good and they're built like tanks. The RV-7 has a killer reverse reverb, although I still prefer the Modulated Reverb on the Boss RV-5. The CR-7 Stereo Chorus sounds great. Blows away the CH-1 Super Chorus which to me sounds "generic" by comparison. Then again, I like the Boss CE-5 over the CH-1 too. The CR-7's chorus modes are nice and lush, plus you can easily tweek the settings find the sounds you want. My favorite mode on the CR-7 is the multi-voiced chorus. Sounds deep and rich, especially if you run it in stereo. Probably the nicest sounding digital Chorus pedal I've heard. |
