Hello again forum friends, this time i come with another question, if you know about gibson guitars, (specially sg's) im trying to find the year of this guitar (photo bellow) the problem is that it's too old (or the owner did not take good care of the guitar) that the serial number it's almost invisible, some numbers cant be read i dont know if the pickguard its the original one, because i dont really know that much about SG's i read a lot is about les pauls (because are my favorites #9829;) but trying this sg changed my mind, about them, so i'm considering get a new Sg Standard... this is me playing "the jewel".

If you email Gibson (there is a contact link on their web site) they will help - they will ask for pictures of things like the pickup cutouts and other stuff and use that to date it.

They were very good when i was dating my SG last year.

2 knobs is usually indicative of an SG Junior. However this having 2 humbuckers and the large pick guard, I'd say it's a late 70's The SG. I remember seeing these at the mall when I was a kid.

I dont know if gibson can tell the year just watching that pic i put up there, they maybe ask me for more detailed pics fron the headstock body back inside the pots and all that, the problem is that maybe i will never see that guitar again in my life, its the guitar of the uncle of a friend, he is traveling so my friend "stoled" the guitar for one night to let me try it out, he says the he bought it used so he doesn't know what year was made... i used it with my pod x3 live and was good, but when i just plugged my SD-1 guitar and amp, was AWESOME, i`m really wanting to have an SG right now (maybe a little bit of G.A.S.)

if the serial WAS embossed in the wood, you can try doing a rubbing with a piece of paper and crayon/charcoal/pencil.

I can't figure out which model it is, but it looks like a "short maestro" bridge missing the arm and a bit more. It's possible that it was some special 2-knob model and that the humbuckers were added later.

Oh yeah, it has some holes on the pickguard like from p90 wide screws, maybe the original owner removed the p90 and put some humbuckers on it... i have to ask to my friend if he knows, but when he gave it to me looked that he doesn't know that much of the guitar... so, im thinking that is from the late 70's like Pedal Dan said...
