I've always been a collector, and I suppose I will always collect things, but nowadays I try to analyse my musical needs more and more and only get what I need the most, considering the fact that I'm not rich enought to buy all the guitars, basses, pedals, amps and synths of the world, so I try to choose my equipement carefully..

for example, I need a lot of delays in my music, so I try to get every delay I see as a bargain, but I don't use chorus or flanger very often, so I just have one of each (preferably the best ones)

considering that, I also love to buy a useless bargain sometimes!!

I've collected a variety of things for about 2 decades now. From pottery and glass, rugs, music to microscopes. They get trimmed back periodically when we 'need' something special ;-), so I try to buy cheap so I can make $. Boss pedals are a new thing for me and I've enjoyed learning about them, my trading in pedals and guitars has resulted in about half our music gear being essentially free at this stage.
New Zealand's a good place to look for stuff.
I collect with an eye to the future and try not to get too obsessed (but they look like lollies!)
It's essentially hunting and gathering slightly redirected, so don't let anyone tell it's unhealthy...
Cheers!

My goal is to get all the boss pedals, but as nice looking as possible with the box and manual and, thats the sport,as cheap as possible.
Sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not.
What hurts the most is missing a ph-1 for 1,50 euros, a nos mz-2 for 27,50 euros a nos ce-2b for 35 euros and a ss ds-1 for 32,50 euros.
Man even when I'm writing this I feel the tears comming..............

Ha! Very good Dr Bob.

I normally preview my posts, must have missed this one.

No hard feelings whatsoever! Always take the opportunity to take the piss out of me whenever you can. Seriously, it's all in good fun.

My OD-1 joke is getting a bit of notice then!

Hi Stratman
Check out my

SYB3RIA joke.......

Great luck you had, the other day. I was once (recently) given a BF-2 SS MIJ that was under my mates place for the last 20 years or so,
It even had the the original 20 years out of production Panasonic battery in it.
I kept the battery to date it, the 60+ year old Tech said that the battery, was definitely over 20 years old,

Did you get the Pictures of the CraneTortoise Compressor I sent you?
I have it running..... Nice.. still getting the hang of it.
I only wish the instructions weren't in Japanese.

Enjoy the Gold Coast holiday...
If your ever near Melbourne, I have a coffee & slice of cake, with your name on it, waiting for you.

Regards Dr. Bob

Hi SP-1 & Stratman & Guys

Hey I never thought of that Get together & instantly double your pedal collection ...

Maybe this a real reason to have a ménage à trois ( I hope I spelled it correctly)
Then you'd have Three Times the Pedal Collection.

It's late, that's my excuse, & I'm now going to bed.

Regards Dr. Bob

Here's the ss ds-1 I missed, the guy had no idea what he was selling, and I ? I was three minutes too late at home after a 2,5 hour drive.

Hi everybody,
as I read the last post by SP-1, I knew I had to join this group, because it was me who bought the DS-1. Sorry! It's workig fine and is my second SS DS-1. The other one's in a worse condition paintwise, but it's a momentary LED model making it more desireable to collectors like me, I guess. So I think I'll sell this one quite quickly again.
Regards,
Michael

Sorry, I forgot to tell my aim of collecting: I started out collecting Ibanez Pedals (which I still do) and I somehow got an old TW-1 which I liked and which got me interested in Boss pedals. I am a pedal junkie (I didn't count recently, but there must be 250+ of mostly Ibanez, Boss and other Japanese pedals). I have long been dissatisfied with my OD tone, so I bought some Boss ODs to see if they'd help me with my problem. Then I bought Boss OD/Dist just for fun/to collect them. So initially I started collecting Boss OD/Dist boxes. I am still missing two or three of them, but my focus has shifted since then, anyway. I started collecting MiJ Boss Pedals, preferably with box/manual and cheap. I wouldn't pay any price, it has to stay within reason. My most expensive Boss Pedal was a DM-2 which I bought for 120 Euros. This is a lot of money, but i think it's a fair price for a DM-2.
Back to the MiJ Boss's: Can anybody tell me, when exactly production has changed from Japan to Taiwan? What models are only available as MiJ Versions, what ones have been produced in both countries?
I'm sure you know, but I didn't find any clue to it in this forum (maybe didn't search long enough, though. There's so much interesting to read here).
Sorry for the lenghty post,
Michael

Oh, come on, SP-1, don't be sad, next time you'll be the lucky one. I'm not always that lucky and every Ebayer can tell such stories, can't he?
