Recieved a nice DC-2 in the mail today, and I must say that I am impressed.
It is a very colourful pedal indeed...both sonically aswell as visually...

When I got my DC2, I thought about starting a topic: 'What is your favorite setting on the DC2?' but now that I have played around with it, I realise that I don't have any favorite setting

They all sound good!

IMO.
nr 1. is good for fast songs (type Red Hot Chilli Peppers)
nr 2. is good for general chorus-like sounds (although it is not a general chorus-sound)
nr 3. aah number 3 , verrry niccce, very warm with a hint of flanging but to be used with great care because if you use it to often or to long it becomes boring/annoying.
nr 4. just a little colder than nr 3. and with the flanging a bit more pronounced. Again, to be used with care.

Conclusion: DC2

I prefer #3.
It's true that it can get a bit to much in the long run so it should be used with care.

So far, I have found setting 2 to be a favourite, although every setting is good I think. A truly great pedal indeed...

Rockers, MAJOR COOL TIP!!!

If you ever have the good fortune to have two of the DC-2's at the same time, you have to try putting them on your peddle board one after the other!!! SMOKIN'!!!

First of all, you can really get some cool sounds that will make your sound unique compared to other guitarists.

Secondly, the nuances of the settings are awesome! Say you put the first one on setting 1, and the second on setting 4. One sound. Now reverse! Put the first one on 4 and the second one on 1. Completely different, and completely awesome!

No stereo ins on the DC-2. But hook up a third amp on the out of the first pedals stereo out, and WOW!!! You can even follow up that out with different pedals, like an RV-3 or other cool delay, giving a separate character to that amp.

Very full sounds, especially fun in leads! Very easy to create that dual lead guitar sound, where each axe is playing the same line, like in Judas Priest, or other bands with two lead guitarists.

Ah, heaven!

got a DF2, DS1, PSM5 mij, and a NF1 mij.

the NF1 has i silver screw and an ink stamp (0200) inside.
this is the first pedal i owned that has a hole beside the spring on the battery compartment where the wire of the battery clip thingy comes out from. unlike most boss pedals where the wire comes out beside the switch.

Roland's general policy back in 1998 when I was buying parts from them was that all knobs cost $1. That unfortunately included those little slider covers, which are not even worth a penny.

Last week I got a DF-2 in a shop specialized in secondhand items for 45€ (around 60$ I guess). It may seem expensive for an all-battered pedal without a box or manual, but I got a three-month guarantee period with it and in my country this pedal's price has been totally skyrocketting lately, it now averages the 100€ (over 120$! ) mark, except on ebay of course... so it actually was a bargain!

found a (presumably) MIJ first-series BF-2 locally. the price wasn't very good ($75, including taxes), and there is no sticker on the bottom, but it sounds great. I haven't peeked under the hood yet, but based on info in 'The Boss Book,' all other signs point to a first-year-issue (1980 or 1981?) BF-2:

* 'first period' ink stamped SN above switch (0300)
* 'middle period' two hole battery compartment
* 'type III' knobs (all black with red line on top)
* apparently original silver screw

maniacally_cool, it sounds like your NF-1 and my BF-2 were made at about the same time?

I have heard lots of good things about the DD-20. Beginning to get curious of testing one myself.

I recieved an early HM-2 MIJ with box today in the mail. The toneknobs are very effective on this unit as mentioned earlier in some thread I think. However the dist knob doesnt change much between setting 9 and 3, which is interesting.

HM-2 tone isnt really my cup of tea but an addition to my collection and definately remains in the shadow of my beloved DS-1 MIJ which remains unbeaten. The only pedal that comes close is my DS-1 Robert Keeley mod.
