...Thanks all.... imagine a christmas with no guinness.... ...Guinness are 250 years old this year and have had stuff going on in the city all year to celebrate, some people thought the fire was a publicity stunt... the CEO of Guinness had to go on the radio to deny it....he even asked the DJ to play a request...can anyone guess what song..?..... |

I guess this could have been a real tragedy. So It's great that there was no loss of life.
And little if any disruption to the flow of Guinness.
I might just have to buy a few bottles for Christmas, to help support their continuing business success.
And I'm 100% certain, that Franzoni will attest it's all for a good cause.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Nothing like a big roaring fire,a large bottle of the black stuff and a small drop of bushmills on christmas morning in my mams house before the turkey.... ...yes Dr Bob,Guinness really is good for you....
P.S the song requested was..... 'WE DIDN'T START THE FIRE' by Billy Joel...... .......

Ok, I'm gonna commit utter blasphemy and risk being banned for life and hunted down by various forum members. But what the hell?
I don't see how Guinness is still around when Murphy's exists. Seriously. It is such a superior product. I fully understand that Guinness is much older and has legend and history behind it. But Murphy's is the stout of the gods. All the good qualities of Guinness without the salty bitterness. Smooth like silk.
Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of Guinness and enjoyed it. But if I was exiled to a desert island and had to pick a stout to be served forever, it would be Murphy's. No contest.
That being said, I'm glad the place didn't go up like a tinderbox and that nobody was hurt. For any brewery to perish is an immense human tragedy. But I'm sure they have some kind of emergency release valve that they can hook up a firehose to and hose down any potential conflagration with thick, black Irish fire retardant. Just a guess.
I hear you all sharpening up your pitchforks and axes already. . .

yeah, how could it burn down? Guinness THRIVES on fire. it grows...
I like both Murphy's and Guinness, but Murphy's isn't always available.
And I like to drink the darkest beer I can find.. |

Murphys and Beamish stouts are drank down south mostly around Cork city and county because thats where it's brewed..when i'm in Cork i would probably drink Beamish(which of the three stouts tastes the most different real dark burnt taste) as i find Murphys a bit too sweet tasting for me......
no pitchforks or axes.. after we catch up and exile you to the island we will leave you with a supply of non alcoholic lager... .... |
