| Perhaps they thought the name was too close to that Ibanez Panning pedal from the 1970's... the Flying Pan, I think...?! |

Maybe they didn't want to connect to swing band music, which totally conflicts with the rock & roll image, where their market base is. |

Man, if they ever do another boss book, I would love to see a chapter on pedals that never were, like the Swing Pan (Picks of course!)

Have been off the forum for some time, but this is really interesting. It would be fun if one of these surfaced. Findings like this one really wakes the Boss-part of your brain!

What most surprises me is that I've had my nose in everything Boss for around 8-9 years and this doesn't show up until now. Great that there are secrets to be revealed after a long time. Wonder how much else is there is to find out. |

A lot of facts surfaced during the first year or so of this forum, but lately there hasnt been that much. So this is great, it shows that were never at the end-point (when we know everything). And as Bossarea says, there must be more facts just waiting for us to discover. This is the fun part of collecting Bosspedals |

Hi Bossarea
I guess at times like this, you might feel, like you're in an old Indiana Jones Movie or Sequel.

also listed as swing pan
he also seems to own one..... let's ask him to send us a picture.
I mailed a few times with him, very nice guy, I'll send him a mail tommorow and ask him if he knows more about this PN-2, since he works at Roland Germany he should know a bit more, maybe.
Hi Folks, hi SP-1, sorry for causing trouble. PN-2 was intentionally announced as "Swing Pan" but reached market as "Tremolo/Pan". So some JVs made their advertising as "Swing Pan" and even in 1991 German pocket catalogue it was named "Swing Pan" and the picture showed "Tremolo/Pan". My www.Roland-Museum.de is based on a database I built out of any information I could get. The first infos I got have been official price lists. My focus was to find out which devices have been built (model code), up to now I did not manage to check all names. Sorry. I own a PN-2 "Tremolo/Pan".

Welcome to the forum Roland-Museum I was hoping you had the real deal so we all have something to look for, but I think there's only one prototype, maybe.
Hope to see you around some more on 'Bossarea' |

Hi Roland-Museum
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
You have a nice site, full of interesting information.
I use the Google "German to English translator", that is available, as a html plugin & works on most browsers. Works really well.
Regards Dr. Bob
