I hope I have put this in the right place, so what's it gonna be? What do people like and dislike about either or think which is better over all? Boss CS2 or the Keeley Compressor?

From what I recall in an earlier thread with a similar topic, the Keeley Compressor is quite similar to the CS2, which is somewhat similar to a modified Ross Compressor or MXR DynaComp. I can't remember exactly, but I think bossarea can clear that one up for sure.

I'm of little or no more help here. I've heard that it's similar to the dynacomp but I've never tried the Keeley. I know it has true bypass and a sustain and level control. There's an internal attack adjustment. It doesn't sound very user friendly. It is also well above $200 new while you can score a used CS-2 for much less.
I would go with the Boss option but I'm a Boss nut so I can't really give an objective point of view. |

i have the keeley and the dyna and ive tested both of em extensively and found out that the keeley is more hifi sounding while the dyna colors your tone in a musical way.The dyna came really close but now thati have both i sometimes chain them together and use the dyna as a booster coz it is louder than the keeley.

Hmmm... I could have sworn we had this topic before and there was saom mention of the Keeley Compressor being based on his modded CS2. There was also some mention of his CS2 mod (or the CS2 in general) being based on the Ross/MXR Compressors somewhat. Maybe it was another forum that I read that in.

No it was in this very forum. If you look at the schemtaics of the Ross, the Dynacomp and the CS-2 they all have a lot in common. The biggest difference is the presence of the attack control of the CS-2!

Hi, I have the best of both a keeley CS-2, I have never tried the keeley compressor but this one is great, i used to have a old beat up stock CS-2 and I loved that but this is all I will ever need, I was thinking about selling but have since changed my mind, a main factor is that I have the box and both the pedal and box are in mint condition and well it's a Keeley!,

keeley has an option where he can add an attack control on some or the older comps that he made.
