does boss use metric screws, US-size screws, or a combination of the two?

All metric. The treadle "hinge" screws are M3. Not sure exactly what the base-plate metal-thread screws are (I bought some spares from Roland because I couldn't find any the right size).

I happen to have an empty baseplate screw packet next to me, and it says "M3 x 6, Binding B1 BZC" if that's any help.

hi nathanscribe,

I noticed that taiwanese pedals have different baseplate screws than japanese (MIT are longer and thinner), how are yours ?

Yep, Taiwanese base plate screws were different from the MIJ ones on pedals i've owned.
