Hi Bossers!
I got myself a Dm-2 with the MN3205 chip and the 3101 clockdriver.
This is the second edition DM-2 and not the sought after MN3005
version.

Just found out that another pedal of mine the Dod FX96 got the MN3005 chip and the 3101 clockdriver

Soo, now i need some word of moral and wisdom

First, how much more fantastic is the 3005 chip?
Would it be worth messing with a original Dm-2 if i swap the chips?

If swapping the clockdriver would it need to be tweaked with the trimpot?

The Dm-2 sounds a little thin compared to my Dm-3 but still great.
Has a nice shimmer and great slapback echo.
The Dod fx96 isnt bad either, just sounds more lo-fi compared to the DM:s

Cheers

Each clock chip would need to be tweaked to work with the specific delay chip it controls, so you'd definitely need to sweat a bit to get it working. Also, there were a few changes to the circuit around the BBD chip when Boss went to the 3205, so you'd need to watch out for that too. On the 3205, pin 5 goes to the reference voltage while on the 3005, it connects to ground. Similarly, pin 1 on the 3205 goes to ground, while on the 3005 it goes to the reference voltage and to the bias trimmer.

Basically, you'd need to find schematics of both versions, and adapt your v2 circuit board to match the v1 one. I'd be inclined to say it isn't worth it.

Hi Shermock
Nice DOD FX96
I have the FX9 yes just (9) single digit delay

It looks like it's very similar, if not he same in colour.
a sort of midnight colour or deep inky violet.

Great pedals - warps really well.
