I'm thinking about getting one... Does anyone know what the difference is between the MXR M-108 and the KFK-1 (the Newer EQ)? i know that the KFK-1 has a dual outputs but is there any difference in the tones? No youtube videos for the KFK-1 besides a demo from MXR themselves but is said to use the same examples as the M-108. So i am wondering if the KFK-1 is worth the extra $30.00 since i will not use the both it's outputs. Thanks mates!!
It looks to me like the only difference is the 2 outputs. It would be cool if it had 2 inputs and 2 outputs with the option of shaping the the tone differently for each output.
you could put and AB after the KFK though and use it like a like a loop of sorts. Personally, I think I would lay down the extra cheddar just for the versatility but if you are sure you'll never need it why bother.
What't wrong with the Boss EQ pedals? They have several, including a 10 band.
I have the MXR ten band EQ and it's great and indeed the only difference is the dual output and the strange paint job. I got the MXR 108 instead of the GE-7 because i prefer the 10 band to 6 band. The GE-20 is just not my thing, the only hi-tech pedals i use are the RC-2 and Delays. I had no desire for a EQ with 4 presets etc. Plus the 12 red LED's on the MXR EQ's look amazing
I found that I preferred the 6 band MXR to the 10 band because the 6 band has controls for 400Hz & 800Hz, but the 10 band is 500Hz & 1KHz. In my setup, 400 & 800 seemed to be where I wanted to adjust and 500 & 1K just weren't quite right. The 10 band was much quieter, though.
I remember reading something with Kerry King basically stating that the only difference between his signature EQ and the regular EQ is only the dual outputs and paintjob...though he forgot to mention price as well, as his name, paint job, and extra output add $20 or so to the price...
