Has anyone had any experience with the Fender Hotrod Deluxe, good or bad? I picked one up(1998 USA Model) over the weekend and have heard conflicting reports regarding the reliability of this model. Any thoughts?
I bought my son a Fender Hot Rod Deville 2x12 & its great.
I would much rather have bought the Deluxe 1x12 as it was a bit punchier. I can't speak of reliability, we've only had it a few months but it should last a lifetime. I haven't heard of anyone having problems with them really.
I did however smoke a little Marshall & a Crate went south on us. I think Fender was the right choice
Here's an exceptional link right up the ol' Hot Rod alley for you, The Unofficial Hot Rod Deluxe Owner's Guide! It has information about the Deville too. http://studentweb.eku.edu/justin_holton/faq.html
I have the Hot Rod Deluxe and a Hot Rod Deville 4X10. I can tell you that they both crank! Like "DeFrag" said, the Deluxe has more punch. And as you know, there is no low volume to this amp. I have never had any probalems with mine, but I don't use the Fender footswitch, Gain Channel, or Stock Speaker. I run a effects pedals and I put an Emminence "Canibis Rex" Speaker in it. A World of Difference. But the clean on this amp is amazing!
Awesome website there Defrag. I'm actualy looking at getting a Deville myself, I've heard great things about its clean channel and I love the blues which it's known to handle really well.
