| From my experience, Engl E530 preamp and E-840 2x50 Power Amp is a pretty good choice if you don't mind rack units. As Dirk mentioned, 50 watts are just enough. Way better than choking a 100W amp on 2 and making it sound like cr*p. |

It actually sounds good. No muffled sounds, no treble loss. It's quite usable at bedroom volumes. |

100 W is very (very) loud. I have one too, the master volume stays under 2(/10).

i put four of the pentode versions of the tonebones into my marshall superbass head to lower the output rather than having to drag an attenuator around from gig to gig...lets you get i off 2 on the volumes..no mater volume on mine i 'jumper' the channels using a small patch lead and balance both channels ... i also found that speaker efficency is very important..i used to use the V30's (that i have in my 1 x 12 wet cabs) in the 2 x 12 for the marshall with the tonebones, even though the 4 tonebones are only rated for 32 watts it was still very loud in some venues because the V30's are so efficent and have a higher SPL level if i remember correctly...i put a couple of rola celestion 25 watt greenbacks i had spare, into the cab and it lowered the volume a good bit plus the greenbacks are a 'warmer' sounding speaker to my ears...the V30's are great for high gain stuff and using the lot together have been a pleasure tonewise lately.... |

2 Witloofboer: Ok. It's good to hear. Most amps I've tried sounded far from their real sound when used at low volumes, which is understandable.
2 nosi0: sure, you can run it at 50 with your cab in mono or use your cabinet in stereo and go 50:50 |

As I said earlier in this post. I am using Yellow Jackets to run a single pair EL84's in this amp. The power is reduced from 100 down to about 20 watts. It will still make your ears ring if your not careful.

Yup. No problems. You can run 1 module just fine. |
