Yes hondo, not honda. A friend of mine gave it to me for free because he was going to throw it out. I cleaned her up a bit, and threw some strings on it, and what do you know, it actually sounds decent! Only problem is that i think theres some loose wires in the jack that i need to re-solder up. Its making some horrid noises. Apart from that, the pickups in it are really good sounding. I have no idea how old it is, but by looking at it, it looks kinda old. Does anyone know anything about these guitars? Or own one??
Heres some crappy phone pics.

peace! |

They were big in the 80's when i was starting out,as budget guitars,i'm not familar with this model as mostly the ones i saw were LP copies.... i got a 'P' Bass a while back made by 'Encore'(it was pulled out of a builders skip) who were like Hondo and it's a suprisingly good bass to play..the pickup is a bit naff but i'm sure i'll come across something along the way... ...i think a lot of these guitars came out of the same factories in Japan and were rebadged by various companies thats why you will sometimes see the same models with different names on them.....some of them as you have found can be ok and sometimes quite good ....
P.S ... you could even stick a Fender or spurious neck on it if you didn't like the pointy headstock..the beauty of bolt on necks.... |

| Initially Hondo's were made in Japan and were very good but later moved to Korea. I had a HondoII Les Paul with a single humbucker, which was a POS but, and this is true of many Hondos, had a genuine US-made Dimarzio (a Superdistortion.) |
