Okay, so its my understanding that the SD-1 is the OD-1, but with a tone control added. As such, with all controls set to 12:00, do both pedals sound (and feel) the same?

Not really, I found the OD-1 has more of a midhump like a TS-9.
Both pedals lose some low end.

Hi Dr. Bob.

Thanks. I'd read on the bossarea site that the two were different, but I was wondering if an SD-1 could replicate an OD-1; And how close the two were.

Thanks

I believe the OD-3 is very similar to the OD-1, based on the original. Whether it is or not, I rate the OD-3, one of my favourite Boss pedals.

Like what Ollie say's. The only thing is that the Boss OD-3 has a lot of more output (volume) and in my opion, the OD-3 sounds much more excited.

Does the SD-1 sound and feel like a valve amp? 'cause I guess that's the point of the Asymetrical overdrive circuit.

In my view, SD1 comes very close to a class A valve amp. I didn't have much respect of SD1 until I bought an epiphone valve junior combo amp. SD1 sounds very much like my epi junior cranked at full, however, at much lower volumes.

Thanks, a lot of pedals claim to be tube-like, and I was just wondering if this was truly a tube-like one.

as what i've known, OD-1 and SD-1 are boss' counterpart to tubescreamers.

i've tried an OD-3, it's not a tubescreamer type overdrive. i hate it coz i love tubescreamers

I have never liked OD-1 or SD-1 very much (could be beause I dont like Tubescreamers), never use them. But I like OD-3 a lot and I think OD-2 is a little underrated.
BD-2 is also a good overdrive, modded by Keley, Analog Man or Stinkfoot its sensational.
SD-2 is really good too.

Welcome to the forum from Ireland......i agree with Goran the 0D-2 doesn't get a lot of press in the overdrive discussions...really nice overdrive,i've heard people say it's a lot like the 0D-1 in non turbo mode..i never had a OD-1 but i like both modes on my OD-2...that and my MIJ DS-1 are my favourite two boss distortion/overdrives....
