Can somebody please tell me how to remove Velcro from the label, without destroying the label? I got really nice looking LM-2 pedal in a lot and the velcro is fricken on there! I tried lightly to seperate the velcro from the label, but is is lifting the label off the plate. Beautiful black label under there, but how can I save it.
The velcro was cut perfectly to fit over the label and isn't sticking to anything but the label!!!!!
 Any suggestions? |

nope I HATE velcro on pedals I bought one that had it mounted with silicon and it came off easy. Contact cement however is another matter. |

| I think pretty much once the velcro adhesive hits the label, there's no hope in saving the label. I use velcro, but since the label on Boss pedals is in the little "crater" I just use a thin piece of cardboard over the label to protect it, and there still is enough rubber for this industrial strength velcro I got to hold on to the pedal, without sacrificing a label. |

Good idea Jack. I wish a couple of the guys that I have bought pedals from were that smart. It's ideal for holding the pedals to a board, but the mess some guys leave. I had to buy a whole new rubber pedal base from Roland for my MIJ OD-2 because of contact cement, the rubber pad was only about 8 bucks, but they don't sell labels. |

Hey Guys! I just Tried something! I put the bottom plate in the freezer after I posted the original thread. I just pulled it out of the freezer and the velcro practically fell off! The only problem is the glue is still on the label, but you can see the label now! One part down, but I don't know how easy it will be to remove the glue now? |

Hi scrappy1 & Guys
At the expense of a bad pun -- "Cool Thinking". I'll be putting this into long term memory.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I have used the freezer trick when removing crusty price stickers from original boxes, so I thought I would try it for this.
As for the glue that was left on the label: Got the glue off by pickin and pullin! Little pinches at a time. Not much fun, but at least it is off and I can keep my black label on the pedal. I wish I would have thought of the freezer before I seperated 3 of the corners of the label!
Oh well, I'll remember for next time!

| I put velcro on most of my pedals but I only half-heartedly regret doing so. I was able to remove it once successfully & was totally in fear that I'd rip the label. This was for a BD-2 going back to GC. I don't think I'll be velcroing many from now on & am thankful for the bottom-plate in the freezer trick. |

Is there a thread for Tricks of the Trade? Or Trial and Error? I think "jack" 's idea with the cardboard would be a great one for people to know. Might help keep some nice pedals nice? |

LIQUID LIGHTER FUEL WILL REMOVE THE STICKY GLUE LEFT OVER FROM THE VELCRO.BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO USE TO MUCH AS IF IT GETS UNDER YOUR LABLE IT WILL REMOVE THE GLUE FROM THAT AS WELL.TRY PUTTING SOME ON A SMALL PIECE OF COTTON WOOL AND GENTLEY RUB IT OFF.

I use to use rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) to remove the goo from labels
A another neat trick to do with velcro is to turn the bottom plate over, and stick the velcro to the smooth side down |

| For those that actually want to use velcro to keep their pedals in place, it's as simple as flipping the bottom over so the label is inside the pedal. Then when/if you sell the pedal velcro removal is easy, then you just flip the bottom back the way it came...no one knows the difference. |

| Wow...lots of great ideas! I hate putting velcro on my pedals, but it seems to be the most practical way of doing things. I'll definitely keep all the tips in this thread in mind. |
