Hello,
I'm probably late in the game when it comes to knowing about these pedals, but apparently they're excellent Boss clones.

If you search on eBay for 'GLX pedal' you may find a range of Boss-a-likes which are apparently made in the same factory as Boss gear, just labelled differently and thus much cheaper.

Apologies if there is already a thread on this (I searched for glx and nothing came up) but does anyone here have any experience with these pedals?

I've ordered the noise suppressor clone as my Boss CS-3 gives me too much hum for my liking. Harmony Central have reviews on the various pedals for those willing to geek out (like me).

BTW...apart from the manual, is there a dummies guide to the Boss BR-600?

I haven't tried the GLX pedals so I'm not going to comment on the quality but they're not made in the same factory as Boss pedals. It's a claim I've heard before but I don't think there's anything in it. GLX are made in China by Beta-Aivin. You can find the same pedals with Beta-Aivin, Harley Benton or Boston Engineering logos. Roland/Boss owns their own manufacturing facilities in Taiwan.

I would say that I'd give it a review, but I don't own a Boss NS-2 to compare it to and, were I to give it a bad review, I think it would only be if I wasn't using the right settings for the pedal. A lot of people review most noise gating/suppressing pedals badly becaus they overdo it, lose their sustain and end up trying to compensate with their compressors and the whole thing just ends up going in a big loop...and sounding muddy.

Thanks for the info!

hi andy. welcome to the forum.i bought the glx overdrive od100 thinking it was an overdrive but it sounded really distorted, close to the boss heavy metal hm-2. i have since used it for parts and experiments. however, its well made, solid construction and good parts. it just didnt do the overdrive job. i havent tested thier other efx though i think i'll check thier multieffects if it comes out here.

Just a quick update on the GLX noise gate pedal. It cost me 25 and it's the worst 25 I've spent - it removes a fair bit of tone and at anything more than 2 degrees into the 'level' from zero it boosts it so much that there's instant feedback!

I thought it could be just me, so I asked a friend to come over and we tried fiddling with it for a good long while and neither of us could remedy this! My friend is a guitarist too and we've both been playing for at least 10 years, have worked our way through a lot of gear, so we're not newbies.

I tried placing the GLX NG-100 on its own, powered by a Boss PSA and it had the above effects. I tried using a Boss CS-3 after the NG-100 and the level was so high from the GLX unit that every time I stopped playing the CS-3 made an "mmmmmmmm-bup" noise.

I'm going to take the GLX unit to my local guitar shop and try it against the Boss unit and see if it's just me or if this thing is a dud.
