I want a sort of Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead lead sound.
Like My Iron Lung and his solo sort of whiplashes around . I can't describe it...

What pedal/s do we think would help with this, or is it the pickups? I have no idea?

Fender Lace Sensor Red (x2) in a Humbucker, in the bridge of a Telecaster (Telecaster Plus). He uses sundry effects, the most prominent of which is the Marshall Shredmaster (Distortion). Amp wise he uses an AC-30 for clean sounds and a Fender 'Eighty-Five' Solid State Combo for distortion (The Shredmaster). I've got a Tele, a Shredmaster and an Eighty-Five and I can get pretty close.

Herehttp://www.greenplastic.com/coldstorage/gear/jonny.php and here http://www.sigur-ros.it/franz/RHG/ is more info.

Congrats Stratosphere, and NetStar, I think you should find your own tone man... I hate it when people's rigs are just reflections of their favorite artist, especially radiohead or incubus, so I'm staying out of this. Radiohead did more for selling that shitty Shredmaster pedal then Marshall could have ever imagined. and Mike from Incubus for selling that damned Gonkulator Modulator. I mean c'mon don't you guys hate it when you're reading a review for something on Harmony Central, and the guys' rig is the same as Jonny Greenwood or Tom Morello.

Anyway don't mind my rant, this just comes up all the time, and I couldn't help myself from saying something. Here's Greenwood's geeked rig. If that helps?

ALSO: don't forget Ed is in the band, therefore they have 3 guitarists, and lots of room for different guitar parts and changes.

OH, but in this Acoustic performance it sounds like the Demeter Tremulator (thats the one everyone thought was homemade for a while) is crucial to the clean parts of this song, but I could be wrong.

anyway, thats way more than I wanted to say about the subject, good luck.

The whiplashy stuff?
Would any Wah do that, or is that a Whammy tone? I don't know much at all about Wah pedals?

Whammy isn't anything like a wah, it's a pitch-shifter/harmonizer/octaver etc. You couldn't do that kindof stuff with a wah pedal. He uses it to do the 2 octave up bits in other songs too.

see? When it comes to uber specialist stuff, I really don't know.

Jonny uses the WH-1 (original) but due to him, and Tom Morello, they're uber expensive. The new one isn't as much, and does a lot more.
