Delicious CE-2 Laurie.
I agree with much of the above. CE-2 is great, so is DC-2 or DC-3, although those are best run in stereo.
As for the CH-1 and CE-5, the 5 is definitely the better choice. I actually heard a pink label analogue CE-5 vs. a recent one, and there WAS a difference.. many of us perceived a warmth and fatness (however slight at some settings) in the older pedal. There's a post somewhere about the serial number at which this change to digital occurred, so you can know if a pedal is likely analogue or not.
Good luck and welcome! |

But the important quiestion is.. Why do you want a chorus? We does only use chorus when we want to feel like Lukather or Stern. None of us really need a chorus. That's why we have like five each..

Welcome to the forum.....i think the givaway is in his screen name...sambora... ....the CE-2 for a tradational chorus..i.e 80's police, pretenders etc..... is probably the best i've tried,i had a CH-1 before that and unlike the others i ran it in stereo,in stereo i think it's a good chorus,in mono not in the same league as the CE-2 but then the CH-1 doesn't go wet/dry to both amps like some stereo chorus's do instead it seems to modulate between both amps for true stereo.....i have the older analogue one.... |

1: Become a collector and trust what we know about the pedals. All of us have bought pedals without trying them. I have tried 3 (that was actually from a guy in my town and I bought three pedals fom him. I went for the DC-3 which he had, and I got home with DC-3, DSD-2 and GE-7 mij).
2: Try one in a store and you will buy one, come home and feeling sad because you know that you actually wanted to buy an old pedal which could be the start of your collection..
At the moment i wont be like many people on this forum that collects old pedals mainly because i havent got the funds! At this present time i am just creating an effects set-up for myself and not entering down the collecting road. This doesnt mean that i wont start collecting in the next year or so! Don't get me wrong i would love to have lots of vintage pedals!
So at the moment i doubt that i would be disapointed coming home with a new pedal as i havent got that 'vintage bug' yet! |

Lately there have been many discussions on the forum that i have been reading on whether the Chorus effect is now dated. Many people have agreed that they feel it is. Me (a 25 year old male) doesnt feel this way. My current sound is a metal one playing the Metal Zone pedal through a Marshall amp. But i also play lots of different styles such as blues and softer styles. When i play softer songs i like the chorus effect to just give something more to the clean sound of the guitar. |

Yes i do like Richie Sambora and feel he is an underated guitarist but i do not try to model myself on him! I just admire him and his style. Do not think he is my favourite guitarist though because i couldnt choose between Vai, Malmsteen, Satriani, Angelo, Sambora, Gilmour etc etc! I think Sambora uses a Fulltone Chorlange lately anyway. |

I'll come to the CH-1's defense. I like it better than my CE-3, though not as much as my CE-2. ( ) In all fairness I don't yet own a CE-5 to compare. But the CH-1 does something for me. |

It really depends on what you need, want or expect... I don't own a CE-2, but they smoke. Thick, rich analog tone. I do own & I will say a DC-3 paired with a CE-3 or CE-5 is thick, lush, Rush-like tonage. DC-3 adds flavor to flange as well. I can't say either on their own give that type of depth to the sound, but paired (with a touch O' reverb), they are tone-a-licious. Try before you buy if income is an inhibiting factor. BTW - other Chorii of interest - Uncle Bob's fave = Arion SCH-1 (to the best of my recollect). One of my goto, standbys = DOD FX 60 or FX 65 Welcome to the forum & best of luck on the Chorus quest.

I like my CH-1! Nevertheless, I think the chorus in my ADA MP-1 was better... but the CH-1 could be a tad more versatile... anyway, I'm going to buy a CE-5 if I have the chance... they come of for sale here from time to time, if you get lucky you can find 'em cheap... |

I own the ADA MP-1 as well. Weak compared to my earlier contribution. While we're on the rackmount agenda, I also own Digitech GSP-5, GSP-7 & TSR-24. The pedals I mentioned are still superior to ANY of the racks stated above. I haven't tried the rack units paired with the DC-3 as of yet though, hmmmmm........ Possibly more to come...
