Please have a look at my CS-3 I want to offer at eBay again this night:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110498096023&ssPageName=STRK:MEUSX:IT
Mesjoggah and Mansun say that it's a Taiwan made pedal, but the backplate says Made in Japan. The box has no MIJ label. Could it be that all the parts were really made in Japan but then assembled in Taiwan, since it's a '88 Model? And then put into a "new" Taiwan box? I don't want to write bullshit in my article description. |

Well, I didn't say that at all! I just noted it had a "made in Japan" backplate and a "Products of Roland Taiwan" serial label. I can't say if it's MIT or MIJ. I just can say it's in very good shape.
Maybe you can market it as "very rare" given it could be a transition unit. |

My guess (only a guess) is that it could be one of the first MITs. Perhaps the backplate was changed, which is more likely to happen than somebody changing the serial label. And I assume it has DBX1252 so it should be virtually identical no matter whether MIJ or MIT. |

Hi again!
It has the dbx1252 chip in it! Do the later Taiwanese pedals have other chips? So it's similar to a Japanese model?
Thanks for your help so far! |

I have updated my eBay item description:
Short English description (feel free to ask for details!): BOSS CS-3 Compression Sustainer pedal in fantastic condition for sale! Serial number: Z963002 (according to “bossarea” produced November 1988). I am not completely sure if this unit was made in Japan or in Taiwan, since the backplate says “Made in Japan” and the Serial number sticker says “Products of Roland TAIWAN” and the box has no “Roland Japan” inscription. I think that all the parts have really been made in Japan but then have been assembled in Taiwan (the production of BOSS compact pedals went to Taiwan in 1988) and put into a “new” box. The guys from the bossarea forum asked me if it has the old dbx1252 chip that was used in the Japanese models and it really has this chip! So it’s technically similar to a “totally” Japan made pedal. But anyway: an old CS-3 in this condition and with the original box is a rarity! I do only sell it, because I own a Marshall Compressor pedal that I personally like a bit more – especially for my bass guitar playing. The CS-3 is in perfect working condition! Can either be operated with an old unstabilized BOSS ACA adaptor or with a more common stabilized adaptor (BOSS PSA type), but then you have to use a daisy chain cable and supply at least one other unit via the same power adaptor, otherwise it won’t work properly. Such a daisy chain adaptor cable from the German manufacturer Schulz Kabel (list price: 10,50 EUR) comes for free in this auction! So you can instantly connect and use this beauty with your other effect units! (Of course you can also use a 9V battery.) The pedal has fully and thoroughly been cleaned inside and out. See pictures at the bottom of the page for optical condition – it looks just perfect. It has a few minor scratches and just a very very small piece of paint has chipped off! Contents of this auction: BOSS CS-3, original box, copy of the English user’s manual and a daisy chain adaptor cable for instant use with your standard power adaptor and other effects. I will ship world wide; foreign customers should ask for shipping fees before buying. Insured shipping only! This is a private sale; this means: no warranty, refunds or exchanges. But I assure you to send my offered items in perfect condition as described. In case of complaints let’s communicate and see what can be done.
Any complaints from your side? |

Good. Transparent and straightforward. It is always better to let the buyer decide whether the item is what they are looking for and maybe let them do the search. |

| sounds like a transition model.. but the box with the white ends (and dark sides) is usually a Japanese box. nice condition though.. |
