Hi!
I have a used CH-1 on the way with no sticker on the back. I was just curious if my pedal might be analog because I saw here that the ch-1's before oct. 2001, were BBD analog.
Is there an easy way for me to find out without the serial #?
thanks so much...

Hi welcome to the forum.... yes your right that there is an analog and a digital version of this pedal as far as i know the same applies to the CE-5...i use the analog CH-1 0n my 'board last in the chain for using in stereo to two amps.... i'm not really the man for serial numbers but i thought there was a code or sticker inside the battery compartment....failing that i fairly sure if you take the backplate off you can date it with the codes on some of the circuitry..... bossarea or some of the other lads will help on this i'm sure....... |

| The CH-1 has been made with blue, pink and dark gray labels (not black as the CH-1 page says). If you have a blue or pink label, your CH-1 is definitely analog. If the label is dark gray you will have to open it up to see if it's analog. If it is it will have a MN3007 BBD with MN3001 clock driver. Both are black integrated circuits with 8 legs and fairly easy to spot. |

Thanks for the info and the welcome. Mine has no back label at all. A classic case of velcro on the back gets peeled off by previous owner, and the label goes with it. It's OK though, I bought it just to play. My bet is it's digital, but that's fine too. I guess I'll just check for the BBD's when I get it in the mail. You never know though, I scored a PH-2 with a BIN for $30.00. Checked the serial #, it's a 1983. First year made I believe.
Since I'm new to this forum I'll rattle off my Boss collection...
PH-1r (1981) 2 "silver screw" DS-1's. Both 1980. CE-3 (can't remember year). PH-2 (1983) DD-6 TU-2 MIJ SD-1 (on the way, then I'll know the year). CH-1
that's it. BTW, in the age old MIJ DS-1's vs. MIT. The MIJ's are much better IMO. I hated the DS-1 until I played the MIJ's. smooth, less buzzyness, a "bolder" sound, better response to the vol. knob. And don't let anyone mod them!
thanks,
Matt
