| If you want to spend some serious cash look at the ESP Horizon series, they look like a serious metal player guitar, i've never tried one but i'd like to own one, if you are more a les paul guy look the ESP Eclipses, look like a les paul but they are thiner and have a more confortable neck than a regular les paul. |

Thanks everyone for all the responses
a little more info:
I have a budget of $1000 USD and I will be running DR blues strings(11s).
I will do some research on the guitars mentioned, and search to find a spot to try some of those models out... |

| the Music Man stuff is great - the Petrucci (in any of its forms) is a killer guitar for metal. They're now making an offshore series called "Sterling" which is really quite good! |

Yup, those gothic models are actually really great guitars and value for money if you ask me. |

Actually ended up finding a deal on a Gibson SG standard! I was looking for more of a bass tone, and when I picked this up it was just what I was looking for...
I will still want to get something with 24 frets for some solo work, but for now I am very happy with it.
Thanks to everyone for advice and opinions! I will have pictures of it up soon

Perfect choice!!! Gibeys sound and play great and not sure... they might be a good investment!!! Seriously, cool guitar, great upper fret access, light, and the God Father plays one. The One, The Only, Tony Iommi! |

zerskies....you an Ibanez fan as well?
im trying to find a RG750, but they are hard to find...
just exactly like the 770, but it has a pickguard and the electronics are mounted on the pickguard versus the 770 electronics are mounted in the routed holes |
