hey jack...i could always get a trailer for the hog....

big boss man...i think its safe to assume the gilmour strat will have a maple neck...i might even wait to see myself as my squier strat and tele have maple necks and they are my main squeeze's at the moment...something i noticed about the gallagher strat...the rosewood neck was a bit pale,my american strat has a rosewood neck and its a real dark chocolate colour and silky smooth to play(its a mid 80's model)i've noticed over the last couple of years that fender and gibson rosewood fingerboards are a bit light in colour, the only exception i've seen is the knopfler strat because he specifically mentioned it to fender when they were in r&d on his model......

hi all ....i've had my mates gallagher strat for a couple of days now,he asked me to put a set of strings on it and ajust it slightly for him so i thought i 'd give a small update on it as i've had the chance to play it on a gig last night and and in the house(probably use it on the gig again tonight)the honeymoon period has worn off so i can be a bit more objective than my previous posts.....first off i've had a chance to compare it in detail to my '89 american standard strat and the difference in weight between the two isn't as much as i previously thought also the rosewood on the fingerboard on my strat is imho of slightly better quality..darker and more'oily' to the touch(this is something i've noticed on a lot of guitars lately a lot of les pauls/strats/teles suffer from this...not really on for a guitar worth a couple of grand)the orginal 3 way selector switch on the rory strat is also imho a bit limiting as your losing two of the classic strat sounds(the sultans of swing sound)although in fairness fender supplied a 5 way one in the case if you want to change it around..i know these are minor gripes and probably the fact my mate has left this in the case for the last year has a lot to do with it(he's a fan of rorys more so than a guitar player)..in the supplied case you get a lot of goodies,an original fender strap, ashtray cover like the original strats, extra tremolo springs,a fender lead, custom shop plecs an a custom shop sticker for the guitar case....the pickups a set really low so you have to dig in to some volume out of it but that can be a good thing because it makes you think about what you play.....

all in all a very good strat but maybe not a good as i remembered and i wouldn't pay 3000 euro for one 1500 would be a fairer price....

These guitars may proove out as an investment over some period of time but at least here in canada they are grossly overpriced. Besides after years of caution with my guitars, searching for used instruments that are in as good of condition possible, and in rememberance of the day that I cried tears of blood when my brand new Les Paul got its first owie,I can't get my head into the concept of a brand new beat up guitar. How are collectors going to know if ones been damaged 30 years from now?
