Hi Dr Bob, It's a nice sounding pedal for certain, I'm getting used to the fact it's an overdrive and I can't push it to metal pedal levels , it's good for rock music. It gives a major volume boost though, so I have to keep the level knob way down to get parity with pass-through volume levels.
I was having a problem with the sound cutting out and thought it was the switch or jacks that needed cleaning, but it turned out to be a dodgy battery clip. Maybe a loose wire inside the clip (I don't really want to slit it open) or perhaps just loose-fitting. I've solved it by way of taping the clip to the top of the battery. I can always use an adaptor too. What's the '1111' thing? |

Hi guirat
Do you have an OD-2? If you have one, can you compare the OD-1 to the OD-2 in non-turbo mode? Does it sound similar? what other comments or opinion about do you have?
The reason I am asking, is because I own two (2) OD-2's, at present.
I don't see too many OD-1's out here, & they are snatched up pretty quick, or the seller is asking way too much for them.
The NEC uPC474IC is a quad LM741 op-amp, it was never considered to be very good in my electronics field, but seems to excel in an overdrive pedal.
I'm glad to hear that you are pleased with your OD-1.
The (1111) was my way of saying-remembering my 1111th post. I guess it will be a while before I reach 2222nd post.
Regards Dr. Bob

The only other overdrive-type pedal I've had is an HM-2, and I sold that in the 90's. The OD-1 gives me a useable sound I like, one that I could only get close to with the HM-2 settings approaching zero. More of a crunch sound. It's a perfect driver for the Resly (Leslie Sim) box too, instant 'Wanton Song' by Zeppelin.
I'm still trying to get started on my BYOC MKII-Fuzz build, but the OD-1 covers milder tones. Cheers Racer-X, I'll have fun using it, trying to get sounds similar to my favourite songs is something I can spend way too much time on.
I've never tried an OD-2 Dr Bob, I have vague memories of one a friend had in the 80's (unless it was a 'Turbo Overdrive', are they the same?). I see quite a few OD-1's on Ebay - I don't get the prices, they must relate to the year, condition and chip? They seem to vary a lot. It does feel like a pedal that could be used for many things, a permanent fixture if you like.
I never glanced to the left and saw your 1111 posts before, that would've explained all |

Finally got an OD-3; very nice overdrive. Is a little bit thicker than a BD-2 or a SD-1. Good pedal, that. |

Wow!! no one has posted any new pedals acquisitions in a month
I got a CS-2 a while back, very nice sounding, the guy threw in a ACA-120 adapter with it too. Yesterday I swooped down when I saw a PD-1 Rocker Distortion for $70cnd Thats a nice distortion, and that Warp switch is so cool, its like squeezing the last bit of distortion out of your sound. But seems to like running off the two C batteries than in a daisy chain from a NS-2. With the chain I get a lot of humming and a NS-2 set high cleans it up. No hum with the batteries. I even tried a ACA-120 and a ACA-120G to no avail. The light didn't come on. Wasn't there something about the trim pots?
I missed my good friends B-Day so I grabbed him a SYB-3 with a manual. Didn't know it could be used with a guitar, now i gotta figure out "the range for detecting pitch: B0-G4" |

Yesterday I recived my first analog delay, a DM-3 with box and manual. Now I know why everybody says they sound so natural. It really is a beautiful pedal. And while I'm confessing to the above purchase I might as well share my past month of what I think around here is called GAS: OD-3, DC-3, SD-1, TW-1, LM-2, HF-2, CS-1 (my first silver screw), DS-1 MIJ (July 1981), PH-1, CS-2, and the DM-3. All with box. Some with manual. It's been said on these forums before, but this site is a bad influence. Now I just have to keep my credit card statment hidden from my wife for a few months. |

| I recently picked up a EH-2 and what a cool little pedal it is. It really improves the quality of your gain pedals to the point where they sound like crap without the EH-2 on after them. Easily the best AUD$60 pedal I've had. |

At last I bought FZ-5 and ML-2, and now I have all the Boss OD/dists again, I cried when they released five at once earlier this year (if you can call FBM-1 and FDR-1 overdrives). I really hurted as none of them was cheap... I had great hopes on FZ-5 and indeed the Fuzz Face simulation sounds very good, the octavia so so. But the Maestero is completely unusable. I suppose they sounded this way in the original form, and the only thing usable I produced was the Satisfaction riff, everything else was farting sounds I didnt expect too much from ML-2 as Im no metal player. But it was really fun to play with the deep distortion, I even managed to play some death metal. And a lot of weird noices, this is usable with psychedelic music. This is a good pedal for sure! |

I just picked up as PS-5 the other day.
I feel like i have to get an expression pedal now to make full use of it, but it does make my guitar sound crazy
But all it's really done is make me wish I'd got a DD-6 instead, because the delay on the Detune mode is so much fun to play with (my first experience with playing with delay) |
