I AM A DOOFUS!!
I'm either going blind or getting old... it was actually a CS-3. Oh well, I bought it anyway
One of the music shops here has one for CAN$55. Is it worth it?

Hi lauries2
I have Two CS-2's One sus, & the other works & sounds great.
I spent nearly a year chasing the first one, after reading all the hype, and being frustrated & disappointed with the CS-3.
When it arrived, it was even more disappointing than the CS-3. And I spent a long time (months), trying to set it up. Basically it sucked all the tone out of every guitar I tried it with.
I spat the dummy (big time) with it, tossed it in the corner, with the CS-3, but Christo spent a long time convincing me that the CS-2 was better than what I was hearing, & I might have a dud one.
After all his support, I to, convinced myself I might have a faulty one, (They are very old) So I managed to get another slightly newer in date one. (almost mint)
This is the good part of the story. It was completely different in tone to the first one I had. It didn't suck the life out of the guitars. Is sounded brilliant....
I set up the 2nd CS-2 & did some recording with it. And it was even better when recored. (interesting almost transparent effect) So if you can get one.. buy it.
I know you are accustomed to hi-end audio gear, so your opinion/s may differ. I studied the schematic for along time, & I think I have figured out what id wrong with the first one. (CRO time)
Regards Dr. Bob

I think that the CS-3 is an ok compressor...well worth $55...i have mine about 10 years and mainly use it for clean boost with the level 3/4 way up and the sustain at 1/3 up,attack full on and the tone a little over halfway.... i also use it to push the rythmn channel on my twin tube overdrive for a little more 'bite' on solos.... gets a bit of bad press but it crops up on a few of the big boys pedalboards.. |

When I only had a solidstate amp, I thought that my CS-3 was quite useless. After I got my Peavey Classic 30 tube amp, I found that the CS-3 to be a completly different pedal. My CS-3 LOVES my tube amp, and my tube amp LOVES my CS-3. |

we're talking about cs-3?
cs-2 is fucking amazing, honestly it has beat out everything else I've ever tried.
cs-3 is a solid starting point, get the monte allums kit and it can become great! |

Thanks Defrag!!
Just found the Monte Allums web site. Looking at his kits (cheap and cool) plus a couple of other mods I've scraped off the www.
