My BOSS BF-3 Flanger was damaged When I power on BF-3 I can hear 'electrons' popping like any other BOSS stompboxes, but the LED diode not lite and switch is not respond.
I think this is propably "flip-flop " SW failure...
I looking for service manual for this pedal. If anybody have this schematic, please send it for me. lu9@o2.pl
Regards!!!

Hi Lu9,

Welcome to the forum!

So, to tell the truth your problem is not really clear for me!
After you swithced on your BF-3 what is happening if you push the pedal?
Does it worked before well, or you have bought it in this condition?
Does it switch from bypass to effect and back but only the LED is staying dark?
Or it is not doing anyting after the stomping?

Please explain a bit deeply hope we can help!
Unfortunately I have not seen yet any service manual or schem for BF-3 in the internet yet.

cheers

Welcome to the forum

How was it damaged?
Pretty rare the led wound fail.
Did you open it up to see if there was any burnt areas?

I bought this BF-3 from second hand damaged. I think, the last user was used wrong power supply. :/ Effect no pass thes sound and switch is not respond! (LED diode isn't lit - still dark)
I was read some transistors, diodes, etc. from BF-3 (SMD)
Q1,Q3,Q5,Q8:JY(some NPN?), Q2,Q7,Q10,Q13:LG(2SC4116GR or any other NPN for example 2SC945, Q4:XG(2SK880GR - JFET), Q6,Q9:marked as a CBG(I can't recognize), Q11,Q12:marked as a SG(2SK118(???)), Q14:JB,1G(looks like MOSFET - he has 3 pin and one solder mass).
IC1: 5218A (dual opamp)
IC2: 2100, 9134G, JRC - ???
IC4: AKM4552VT (this is 24bit 96kHz A/D & D/A converter)
IC5: big BOSS chip marked as a R02565501 (the same chip was add in RV-5
IC6: small BOSS chip R02898690, BF-3 V1.00, 218U3D (Atmel???)
IC7: BJSN (5 pins)& IC8: JAPR (5 pins) - I think this IC's are responsibility for switching but I don't know how to replacement are there. I check some transistors and this is OK
Diodes are too OK.
D2,D3: PJ14, GS1G (1N4004)
D4: PJ21, SS14 (Schottky 1N5819 - 1A, 40V)
and I can see on this PCB two dual diode looks like transistors marked (B3). This is 1SS184.
BF-3 is very similar to RV-5!

Wouldn't surprise me, Boss has used the same pcb for multiple pedals with only a few comp changes. RV3 and PS3, are the same.

Hi Lu9

Thanks for your PM:

I can't find schematic for Boss BF-3 Flanger for repair it. Do you have any service notes of this effect?

The BF-3 is very new in terms of Boss pedals.
I don't think that any of the members here have a Schematic or Service Manual.

But we can only ask & see what happens.
I for one would like to see the service notes for the BF-3.

One is bound to turn up sooner or later.

You mentioned that you were going to post some pictures.

Regards Dr. Bob.
