This thing seems very good...

http://www.blackstaramps.co.uk/products/ht-5/ht-5h.html

it's a valve amp with a 12BH7 powertube - making this a class AB amp (I only have my Class A amp and this seems like a good addition)

That's great Mully!

I've heard very good things as well.
Were you considering a different amp before settling on this one?

I'm planning on trying one of these out, they have the head and the combo in my local guitar shop. They were really well reviewed and it is exactly what I want in a practice amp - great sounds at low volumes.

Sweet........why can't they make these around 20/25 watts so you can gig them........erik dp in another topic just got the Blackstar HT dual overdrive..a real valve overdrive pedal.... some of the top people are starting to use the Blackstar stuff...pual weller and his band had a load of the 30 watt combos behind them on a show on TV recently.....

okay ....it finally arrived....

was kinda hard to track one down since they seem to be VERY popular around here...

the ISF feature is very cool.... don't know what it does really but I guess it's adjusting Q (bandwidth) together with some frequencie shifts..

the funny thing is.... turned full ccw it's s'pposed to sound like an american amp and fully cw like an english amp...

the clean channel is very nice on the american setting and the drive channel is creamy when set to english.... hehe... Fender cleans and Marshall drive...

so a channel idependent ISF would be my feature request for the Blackstar guys...

even the emulated output seems to be doing a GREAT job... both 1x12 and 4x12 modes sound great and realistic

overall I've got a very good first impression and am a happy camper

cheers,
mully

let's make that OKAYISH instead of great... it's still very usable but what I would've liked would be an OPTION to switch of the speaker instead of it automatically being switched off....

could've been great to layer emulated cabs and miced cabs in a recording session

Congrats Mully!

I think the ISF is the key on this amp & I agree, a nice addition to your Class-A.

Heh, the review said they turned a stompbox into a full-fledged amp!

I tried the combo out in a music store the other day and it is a great little amp with lots of features not found on many small amps such as FX loop and two channels.

yeah it sure is nice...

however to give you an update. I'm sending mine back. Not sure I really want to but the overdrive channel farts horribly when the overdrive is above 3 o'clock....

well I could simply avoid turning it up this far but that'd be strange somehow

also googled it and it seems to be a common problem...
