Introducing the $10.60 pawnshop find, the lovely, DS-1 #9200 silver screw. Arrived dead, painstakingly resurrected!

And here's the repair:

I hate you.

I just payed the DD-6 my guitarist lend me some mopnth ago, so I can say I got a good condition DD-6 with box and manual. 100€, which is not bad.
And I just won an auction for a FZ-3, but I didn't figured out it was germany only... I'll see with the seller if it's a problem or not. If it is, well... too bad...
I didn't post in this thread for a while, I've been more in the mood for Iabnez pedals lately... |

arrived today; shipping was only $4.65 from Michigan! no xtra taxes and straight to my mailbox! YAY!
SO, this baby is mint, dates to Aug 88, (MIJ GREENBACK, but LONG LABEL) not a mark on the bottom; two tiny paint chips on the very top edge of the foot swicth close to the knobs. No beer spills!
It sounds VERY CRISP and CLEAN; does NOT have the warm glow that I had on a 1981 BF-2. THE one octave higher up, not so sure I dig it, but we'll see. I'll have to let it grow on me a bit.
All-in, completely satisfied with the purchase!
Edit again - instead of CRISP, I should say TIGHT! |

Hi Guys, this is just my second post, I joined your forums here this evening.
I have just refurbished a BF-2 MIJ Siver Screw, Black label with the use a coin text witten on it.
It was given to me by a friend, who had it stored under his house for the last 10 years or more, the battery had leaked inside the compartment, but didn't do any damage to the PCB & components.
It has a 3 digit ink stamped number under the foot pedal 040 no other numbers, on close examination these are the only numbers. The area around the stamped numbers was unaffected by battery corrosion.
I have taken lots of Before the clean up pics, of the stamped area, in case I damaged or wiped off the numbers.
Are 3 digit batch numbers common on this age of pedal? Or is this a really old BF-2
The battery that I removed, was a National Hi-Top National became National Panasonic and then just Panasonic about 18 to 20 years ago, if me & my Tech friends remember correctly.
I fired up the pedal & it worked perfectly, played with it for about an hour or more.
I still have to do the ACA-PSA power pack mod, (short out the internal resistor) I have a schematic.
Does anyone have a scan of the user manual.
Regards

I would say that the serial number on your pedal should read 0400, and the last digit has probably worn off somehow. The earliest BF-2 pedals had silver screws and since the BF-2 were released in 1980, a s/n of 0400 which according to the s/n decoder dates the pedal to March 1981 makes sense. |

Still waiting for my FZ-3. And I just won a great condition SD-2, 37€.
Oh, and Dr. Bob : I personnaly would let the BF-2 in ACA configuration. It's way more protected this way, and considering the age of the pedal... Not that you will burn it by modding it to PSA, but I think allways reduce the risks is better.
Plus, an "ACA" wallwart is really cheap, any 5€ (or 5$) general wallwart will be ok. |

SD-1 MIJ, Excellent Shape, dates to May 1984 $50 at pawnshop; they had a PS-5 for $99 with PSA120 but the mix knob was bent and pedal a littled dinged (usually they are mint) w B/I. Pickedup another pH-1r. an OC-3 for $39 MIB.
'twas a good week! |

Thanks Sunburst It seems that you were correct, about the the ink stamp being 0400 and not 040
After very close examination of the area under our 20X stereo microscope at work, I was able to find a partial zero. I have a hires pic of the area
Still the pedal sounds great. I keep all the settings low for a nice chorus with just a hint of flanging. |
