Don't know if you are still working on this, but I like the look of threading the hole and screwing the switch right into the case (with the leads attached to the switch, but not yet to the circuit). I think this is a cleaner look.

would the latching switch idea work as a upgrade for the OD-2 that doesn't have the footswitch option to switch between the modes..?..
