I have an old Arion SAD-1 analog delay which I put in the closet last year when I replaced it with a DD-3. Anyway, it worked perfectly then only to find out it stopped working mysteriously while resting in the closet for the better part of the year.
It lets the normal clean signal pass, and the LED actually turns on when I press the pedal but the echo doesn't come on, in other words the effect doesn't work.
So, I opened it up, but I can't find anything that's visuably broken or burned through. If anyone of you has any ideas where to start looking, I'd be much obliged. |

Ok, I figured it out. I should've known I might add. For some reason, the SAD-1 pedal won't work with other pedals on the same power supply, even if the outputs are isolated, like mine.
It works fine from a battery or a dedicated ACA adaptor I had lying around. It's great for slapback echoes since the max delay is only around 300ms or so, so I'm back to playing some more blues licks, cheers |

Hi Dirk
Which power were you using Battery, ot Power Pack? If Battery was it a known good battery.
If you used a power pack, did you try it on it's own, some pedals draw a lot more current especially delay pedals.
Another thing I thought about. Did you plug the leads all the way in? I have a couple of leads where the heatshrink from the factory, has gone over the front edge of the plug & makes it near impossible to get a good, all the way in connection.
I had to trim the heatshrink on these plugs.
Keep us up to date.
Also check for any possible cracks in the PCB, I had an Arion SCH-1 chorus that had a hairline crack in the PCB under on of the pots. I guess someone before me, stepped on the pots instead of the foot pad.

Hi Dr. Bob, thanks for your concern. Initially I had it powered from one of the outputs of my homebuild powersupply. The led turned on, and the pedal passed clean signal so the jacks were all the way in, but no echo sound, no delay, no effects whatsofriggingever. Then I tried it on a battery and it worked fine. So then I remembered it happened before, so I powered it with its own ACA adaptor and it works fine as well.
So why doesn't the pedal work properly when used on an isolated output from a powersupply, but still the LED does go on
Weird, anyway it works now, it think it makes a good alternative to the DM-2 |
