Ok..after some more messing around i found a happy compromise which will do for me...
first off using the pod as a preamp even though the have a bypass mode the amp simulation modes of the pod doesn't like this at all.. ..i picked a simple patch and gave all the various models a whirl with the speaker simulation turned off..the best for my ears was a toss up between a sim of a marshall JTM 45 and the line 6 acoustic amp simulation... the line 6 sounnded a bit like a fender amp than a acoustic amp and more fendery than the fender sim.... ..a few tweaks on the tube preamp after the pod and it's actually the best sounding i've had it so far...this is the longest i've ever stuck with spent tweaking a piece of gear...so thats the wet rig back on track for the moment now to keep hunting for a amp.....
so if you have a pod and are pissed off with it,look at the simulations you might not usually bother with if your trying to get a good sound,i think with this unit a bit of 'outside the box' thinking is needed ....it's actually not a bad lttle stereo rig on it's own and the reverbs are quite good....and for a rack processor the routing options it gives you for other pieces of gear are quite clever over other brands....i have a real love/hate relationship with the thing.... ..... |
