Hi everyone.
I am using two Sd-1's in my setup. I have a question; is there really a major difference between the taiwan version and the japan version of the Sd-1.I have noticed a major difference between the chorus pedals first hand, is it also valid for the Sd-1's ?
Thanks...

I have had both versions and couldnt hear any difference between a 1984 MIJ and a 2003 MIT, I would liked to confirm that the MIJ was better, but no....

Hi Goran
Is the paint on your MIT SD-1 fading to like a patchy light grey over bright yellow, it's hard to describe the effect.
It is sort of looks like the pedal is always dirty.

I also have a couple of MIT OD-2's & one of them, is suffering from the same fading effect.

I got to the same result as Goran. My 1982 and my 2000 SD-1s sound exactly the same.
And they're the same colour too

personally speaking, I think the newer MIT SD-1s (at least, the ones made in 2002) sound vastly inferior to a MIJ SD-1 (mine was made ca. 1988). to me, the main difference is the shrillness/harshness of the tone control; the 'tone' knob on my MIJ SD-1 has a much more usable/musical-sounding range.

The MIJ SD-1's are much warmer than their Taiwanese counterpart. The MIT is fizzy and harsh. The difference is mainly in the upper mids.
