I don't think so, I've never seen a silver screw one. I'm not 100% sure though, bossarea himself will propably know it for sure. EDIT: according to this thread: http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4233 the silver screw was use to mid '81. And the CE-3 product page says this: "The CE-3 was sold from October 1982 to February 1992." I hope this helps a bit
I don't think £55 is as nuts here as it might be elsewhere... well, not if it's a clean boxed MIJ, anyway. I've seen 'em go for more. Mostly less... I reckon anywhere from £30 to £50 is to be expected for a UK CE-3 as a generalisation, but I don't follow prices all that much. I think prices in the UK are higher generally for stuff like this. Not many bargains to be had over here, that's for sure, unless I miss 'em. Like the £25 LM-2 last week.
